Bulgarians have continued a boycott of major food retail chains and supermarkets in the
00:06
country over discontent with rising grocery prices.
00:11
Last week's boycott, the second of the year, led to a nearly 30 percent drop in the turnover
00:16
of major stores, according to local media.
00:19
For this small grocery store owner, the boycott has led to an increase in customers coming
00:48
to buy foodstuff at her shop.
01:03
To address the protests, national authorities and some state regulatory agencies say they
01:07
have begun price inspections.
01:18
are demanding supermarkets limit their profit margins on foodstuff to less than 30 percent
01:24
and want lawmakers to pass legislation to regulate prices.
