Johor continues river clean-up with RM9mil allocation

Johor will continue its river clean-up efforts with an RM9mil allocation for this year, said Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi. 00:07building on last year's successful reduction of polluted rivers from 14 to 9.

00:19at Johor Berseh program at Sungai Tebrau near Kampung Bakar Batu on Sunday.

00:26The state has earmarked 7 million ringgit for cleanup operations at Sungai Skudai, Sungai Tebrau and Sungai Kim-Kim.

00:34These efforts will combine law enforcement, technological solutions and ecosystem rehabilitation programs.

00:41An additional 2 million ringgit will be used to improve water quality at Sungai Bulu and Sungai Tukang Batu in Pasir Gudang.

00:50Noting that much of the river pollution originates from residential and squatter areas,

00:55On Hafiz said he has discussed plans with the state secretary to engage local councils.
