00:00Yes, absolutely amazing. The joint British and Egyptian team have been working together for 12 years,

00:07excavating 54 tombs during that time.

00:11Why is it so important teams like this continue to make these potentially ground-breaking discoveries

00:18that we're still seeing today as we've just been talking about?

00:22Well, I think to some extent there's just the sheer joy of new material

00:27and the idea that the apparently barren desert can conceal these incredible things.

00:33But they're a window on the ancient past, and I'm not sure I have a very good explanation for it,

00:38but people like me who are interested in these things are really, really intrigued

00:43to know more about what it was like in the past.

00:45It's as though there's a kind of veil that is lifted to some extent,

00:49in this case on the life and death and burial of this king, an incredibly important figure,

00:55when we find material like this.

00:57And this is undoubtedly going to help us to understand what it was like for the king,

01:01what it was like for the Egyptian people all those thousands of years ago.

01:05And that's exciting.

01:07And the more discoveries we have like this, and the more we can share the news of these discoveries,

01:12the more I think people are going to get hooked in and interested in the ancient past.
