00:06What once seemed like science fiction is now becoming reality.

00:10Here in Shenzhen, China's tech hub, the humanoid robotics industry is booming.

00:16The PM01 here can do all sorts of stuff.

00:18For example, we just asked it for a favor to film a footage for us, and he said yes.

00:24Of course, it didn't actually make the decision.

00:26This designer did.

00:28To understand more, I visited the company behind it.

00:31We use an end-to-end neural network skill, and we use deep reinforcement learning.

00:39Then we leverage everything that we need from the drawing side and also from the motion side.

00:45Then they can come together much more easily.

00:49When I give it a little nudge, it doesn't just lose balance or fall over.

00:53It instantly knows what happened and quickly adjusts itself.

00:57The staff here told me it's a subconscious reaction.

01:01That quick response is thanks to balanced algorithms and cutting-edge hardware design.

01:06And by making their technology open source, the company believes they can speed up progress by getting more players involved.

01:13S801, from day one that we launched that, we tell everybody this is open source.

01:18From the deep reinforcement learning coding and also from the deployment coding.

01:24The reason behind this is we want to lower the cost for all the institutions and the universities.

01:31These humanoid robots have made huge leaps in just a few years thanks to AI-driven growth.

01:36And it's not just one company in town.

01:38There are other market players like OOPTECH, a Shenzhen-based firm listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange.

01:49It made headlines when its flagship robots took center stage at their IPO in late 2023.

01:55Still, the road ahead isn't easy.

01:58More standardized regulations are needed to integrate humanoid robots into existing systems.

02:04After Chad GPT, humanoid robots are the next big breakthrough.

02:10They're already integrating into small-scale production and daily life.

02:14But key challenges remain, like solving core algorithms and improving critical components.

02:20Those are the bottlenecks we need to break through.

02:23A solid start. Companies like Enjin AI says much of the success at the moment comes from Shenzhen's thriving tech ecosystem.

02:30Here, some of the world's biggest tech firms are just blocks away, making it easy to team up and get things done fast.

02:37Over the past few decades, the city of Shenzhen has never been short of miracles.

02:41And humanoid robots are just one of the latest innovations that capture everyone's attention.

02:46It might still take some time before they're everywhere and entirely hands-free.

02:50But the demand is there, so is the technology to make it happen.

02:53It'll be exciting to see how fast humanoids advance here in the Greater Bay Area

02:58and how many boundaries they're going to push in the next three to five years.
