00:00After a bright and sunny weekend, people in the UAE woke up to a foggy morning to kickstart
00:09the week. With a blanket of fog keeping out the sun, motorists were forced to navigate
00:14roads with poor visibility. The National Center of Meteorology even had to issue red and yellow
00:20fog alerts in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah and Ajman.
00:26Foggy mornings are an annual feature of winter, but the fog actually begins to settle at night
00:31when humidity rises. So now that we are starting off the foggy season, authorities are asking
00:36people to take adequate precautions while driving or walking in this weather.
00:41What exactly is fog? Fog, simply put, is a cloud that touches the ground, and it shows
00:47up when it is very, very humid. There has to be a lot of water vapor in the air for
00:51fog to form. Basically, tiny water droplets are suspended in the air near the Earth's
00:57surface, which is why we see it as foggy. Remember, when driving in the fog, always
01:02put your fog lights on, slow down, and do not put your hazards on, as this could cause
01:08a lot of confusion and accidents. Your best bet is to turn your heater on, as this will
01:13help keep your windows clear. To know more about the UAE's foggy weather, log on to gulfnews.com.
