00:00The success of far-right politician Gert Wilders in the Dutch Parliament elections recently
00:08has sent shockwaves throughout the world.
00:11He is known for his staunchly anti-Muslim, anti-Islam views and is described as the Dutch
00:16Donald Trump.
00:17Now, why is it that far-right parties are increasingly gaining clout across Europe?
00:23The answer lies in the fact that all of them are playing on the fears of voters over uncontrolled
00:28migration, immigration, economies that aren't doing well combined with a cost-of-living
00:32crisis.
00:34And traditional centrist parties have just not been able to communicate effectively to
00:38voters who are seen also as generally entrenched with an establishment point of view.
00:44So these far-right players, they've come into the scene, they've told voters that they are
00:49anti-establishment and that they have the solutions, the radical solutions to fix their
00:53problems.
00:55And therefore, next year, centrist parties will have to find a more meaningful way to
00:59communicate with people so that the far-right doesn't become even stronger.
