00:00Hi, I'm Mary Millen. I'm an architect based out of Dubai. I'm somebody who was misdiagnosed
00:12that I do not have PCOS. Ever since a kid, I was on the chubby side and not on the leaner
00:19side of it. So once I hit puberty and started getting periods, I started putting on more
00:25weight and developed cystic acne and mood swings and cramps. And I used to go to doctors
00:31back in India who would tell me that your cycle seems to be regular. You're getting
00:36periods on time, so you seem to be completely healthy. You needn't worry about anything.
00:42Just focus on, you know, losing weight and keeping a balanced weight. And this was the
00:49skyrocketing thing that happened for the last 10 years. And then I moved to Dubai and approached
00:55a doctor here because I had rapidly gained around 10 kgs. And I go to the doctor with
01:01concern and the doctor actually helped me to understand that I have something called
01:06insulin resistance, which I was not aware of, and insulin resistance connected to PCOS.
01:12So this was an eye opener for me. With the guidance of the doctor and my own personal
01:18reading and understanding, I approached dietitians who are specialized in PCOS and adapted naturopathy
01:27and a holistic way of living by having home-cooked food and sleeping on time, doing yoga, keeping
01:35stress at bay and living a balanced life. This has helped me to control my PCOS symptoms
01:44of mood swings and cramps and hair loss and things. So day by day I have been tackling
01:51it by understanding more about it, being more aware of it and adapting changes into my life
01:59which makes it better.
