00:00I'm happy to share with you my view on the state of publishing, especially after meeting
00:16so many colleagues from around the world in many of my travels and all of the meetings
00:21that I have been having as IPA president.
00:25Publishing is no longer simply about producing physical books in isolation.
00:31Publishing is now heavily influenced by global events around the world instantly.
00:37We have to stand together meaningfully and support one another because no single publisher
00:44and no single publishing market can deal with the changing trends and current threats to
00:49our industry alone.
00:51At the IPA, we have been working hard to build strong foundations to help our members collaborate
00:57and talk to one another more often.
01:00Most publishers now agree that digitization and advanced technology is a huge opportunity
01:07for publishers and our industry as a whole.
01:10An opportunity that is opening up the door to a new era of our industry.
01:16Before I close, I just want to reiterate how excited I am about the future of our industry
01:21I think the next few years are going to be incredibly important in how we create the
01:26future of publishing.
01:28There will be many opportunities for each and every one of us to reinvent ourselves
01:33and be fit for the 21st century.
01:36Thank you very much.
