00:00Going is not good, mate. You'll look a bit sad once again.
00:14Hello, hello, guys. And welcome once again to Straight Back with Mr Cricket, UAE and Golf News.
00:19We've got a full squad for you today. We've got myself and Anis, his son in Gotham.
00:26I'll hand over to Anis and he'll say his quick hello. How are things tonight, Anis?
00:31All good, Matt. Thank you very much. Hello to the panel. And before we start the show,
00:36we request all our fans of Golf News to log on to our Facebook page.
00:41Make sure to predict the winner before every match starts.
00:44And you walk over with this beautiful jacket and three months of subscription.
00:49And we've got a special guest here this evening as well.
00:52Oh, yes, we have Preet here, who's one of the winners of our contest. Welcome, Preet.
00:59Thank you so much. Thank you so much for hosting me.
01:04And Sahil and Gautam, you're also here too. Hi.
01:08Hi, how's it going?
01:12Going is not good, mate. You'll look a bit sad once again.
01:16All righty, I'll give a quick recap and Rajan can have his digs.
01:25So DC posted another fairly low score in IPL terms and they were not able to hold on
01:33as Rajasthan put on a bit of a late show with Chris Morris showing his worth
01:38and getting them across the line with two balls to spare for a three wicket victory.
01:44So Anas, we'll come straight over to you. Chris Morris, he's shining already.
01:51Yes, I remember in the break I said that 147 is a bit of a low target,
01:56especially keeping in mind the Mumbai wicket.
01:58But I had also mentioned that this is not one of those regular Mumbai wickets
02:02where you can just swing with the arc.
02:03There was help for the fast bowlers and Delhi fought back well.
02:07But credit to Morris, especially when he was denied that single by Samsung.
02:12Everybody said that Samsung probably made a mistake.
02:15But in the post-match analysis, he mentioned that Sanju was in the arc
02:19and he did the right thing. I would have anyway gone for the second run.
02:22But credit to Rajasthan Royals. I'm happy for two people.
02:25One is Jaideh Unadkar, who was trolled a lot that he was not getting the wickets for them.
02:29He caught the wickets and Morris, the most expensive buy,
02:32made sure that he won them the match.
02:35Cool. And now we have Preet, who's a DC fan.
02:39And Sahil, who was rooting for them tonight.
02:42First of all, Preet, how does it feel? Is it a sore run to take?
02:46Yeah, actually, I feel great because if Delhi wouldn't have fought,
02:50I would say it was a big loss for Delhi.
02:53But they fought back and they did really well.
02:56And Rajasthan won in the last over.
02:58So for me, Delhi is a fighter. So I'm not feeling that much bad.
03:02But yeah, a bit disappointed.
03:06And Sahil, how is it with you?
03:09I mean, I was just rooting for Delhi tonight.
03:12But, you know, I have to just credit Chris Morris.
03:14You know, he's justifying his price tag.
03:17You know, everyone was asking why was he paid?
03:19Why was he bought at such a high price?
03:20But he's justified it.
03:21And not just because he scored such heavy runs today.
03:24I always liked him as a player. He's an all-rounder.
03:26And he's a fighter.
03:28And he showed that.
03:29So I'm excited for him for making his team win.
03:32OK. And just a quick side check to Gautam.
03:34Are you there? Are you...
03:36Well, what's your take having just joined us after the match there?
03:47OK, I'll come back to...
03:49Yeah, it was an enjoyable game of cricket, I would say.
03:53And sometimes these modest scoring games,
03:55they have got more to offer than just, you know, 200-220.
04:00You know, Simas of both sides, they had a fair bit in that.
04:07So I quite liked it.
04:10It was also a bonus to see...
04:16He had been in good form in the last series against Pakistan
04:20before he came and joined the squad.
04:23So, yes, it was an enjoyable match.
04:25Rajasthan has got their first points on the table.
04:29So it sets up...
04:30Gradually, it sets up the IP nicely.
04:34Yes, I mean, we see there was a good...
04:39Another good half-century knock from Pant as well.
04:42Maybe let down by his fellow batsmen for Delhi.
04:49Again, we're seeing a lot of these low scores.
04:51Yes, I think...
04:54If teams are getting over the line in the chase or not,
04:56it's coming right down to this last over.
05:00Yeah, just a quick question to Pravinder.
05:02I mean, it was a different Pant, isn't it?
05:04I mean, he got that 57.
05:07There was not a single six in that.
05:11Nine boundaries.
05:13Yeah, see, as you play as a captain,
05:17so you have more responsibilities.
05:18And on the other hand, if you keep losing wicket,
05:21so you have to play sensible.
05:22That's why he wasn't taking chances and playing down the ground.
05:26So for me, it was...
05:27Exactly.
05:28For me, it was very nice to see that he can play down the ground,
05:31not trying to hit a big sixes and all.
05:34And that's helped him a lot.
05:35That's why, over the period of time,
05:37he keeps trying his best to play grounded shots.
05:42A bit more of a responsible head rather than just swinging.
05:46Yeah.
05:48And Anas, back to you then.
05:50As I just said there, there's been a lot of low scores so far.
05:54And then the chases have been...
05:57You know, they've been getting right down to the last over.
06:01Do you see that that's a pattern that's going to continue
06:03and we'll keep getting these nail-biters?
06:06Not really, Matt.
06:07You know, today's match, if you see,
06:09147 was not a difficult target.
06:12It's just about the game of Anas.
06:13Like Gautam mentioned, there was a bit in the wicket.
06:16And the batsmen had to assist it.
06:17Had they seen the new ball off, the chase would have been easier.
06:20If you saw in the latest half, David Miller, how he could play.
06:24So is Morris.
06:25And even Jaidu could bat.
06:28Batting gets a little more easier later on.
06:30In Mumbai, okay, Chennai is a different place.
06:32You've got to assess the game of Anas is important.
06:35Especially when you saw the wicket of Tevetya.
06:38He was almost set.
06:39And he knew it was Rabada's last ball.
06:41There was a chance for him to just probably play out or take a single.
06:44But I'm sure the guys will learn.
06:46There are young players, guys like Parag.
06:49And the other players who went a little hard against the Mumbai bowlers will learn.
06:53And Sangakkara is a very shrewd coach.
06:55He will definitely bring this to the notice of the players.
07:00And Preet, back to you there.
07:04Obviously, with the absence of Stoke,
07:06Miller really did step up today alongside the bowlers.
07:10When you're missing an all-rounder,
07:12you're kind of damaged on both sides of the wicket.
07:15Do you think that this confidence boost for Rajasthan
07:18will really see them kind of step on now in the tournament?
07:22Yeah, yeah, for sure.
07:23Because as you see the last game,
07:25Sanju Sensen, he played tremendously well.
07:28He was standing at the last of the game.
07:31Nobody supported him on the other hand.
07:34But if you see today's game,
07:35he got out earlier.
07:36And other of his teammates like Miller and Morris,
07:41they played tremendously well.
07:43And they win the game at the end.
07:46So for sure, in the future coming game,
07:48it will boost the morale of the team.
07:52And for sure, they will come back very hard.
07:54And it will be not easy for the other team, for sure.
08:05Can you repeat the question, Matt?
08:06Okay, sorry.
08:08Yeah, no, sorry.
08:09I thought Preet could finish that.
08:12I'm just going to go to Saheel first, actually.
08:16Do you think now that we're starting to see teams
08:18win and lose it too,
08:20with the exception of Kohli and Mumbai,
08:24do you think that we're going to see
08:27a lot more teams come in
08:28and they start becoming a lot more of a tight table
08:31as the competition goes on?
08:33Or will somebody like Mumbai run away with it?
08:36No, no, no.
08:37I mean, every IPL, it's not only like one-on-one.
08:39Yes, Mumbai Indians are always winning,
08:40but it's not going to be a tight tournament.
08:43This is the IPL.
08:44There's no guaranteed winner.
08:45You can see every game.
08:46The Kolkata lost to Mumbai somehow.
08:49Sunrise has lost to ICB somehow.
08:51And from nowhere, Morris took the game.
08:53It's a tight, this is a very tight tournament.
08:54There's no guaranteed winner at all.
09:01Okay, and we'll just quickly look ahead.
09:03We've got the Battle of the Kings tomorrow.
09:06Chennai against Punjab.
09:08To both Anis and then Gautam,
09:10how do we see this going?
09:11Because they're two teams
09:13that have all got their bowling issues as well.
09:16This match is happening at Chennai,
09:18rather in Mumbai.
09:19So it's not going to be easy for the bowlers.
09:22Today, the bowlers had a tough...
09:23No, that's in...
09:30Isn't it?
09:31Yeah, it's in Mumbai.
09:34It's in Mumbai.
09:35It's in Mumbai.
09:36So, yeah, I mean,
09:38we'll have to see.
09:40Chennai didn't do too badly with the bat
09:42last time around.
09:44It's still very early days.
09:45I mean, and...
09:51I'd like to see them do a little more.
09:53Like today,
09:55Rajasthan Royals showed that, you know,
09:57they are kind of trying to get there
10:00in terms of their bowling combination.
10:02So I would hope the same thing...
10:05Punjab.
10:06But if you're saying that,
10:08who would be my favourite,
10:09I would say that the edge will be with
10:11Chennai tomorrow.
10:13Okay.
10:14Anish, do you agree with that?
10:17Not exactly.
10:19To be very honest,
10:20the hard hitters are with Punjab.
10:21And in a wicket,
10:22if the...
10:23You know, it's a flat wicket
10:24and not like the way it swings.
10:26Even if it swings,
10:27I would still back Punjab.
10:28They have much harder hitter players
10:30like Rahul, Mayank Agarwal, Chris Gayle.
10:33And we saw last time,
10:34they put up 200.
10:36They had also Deepak Hooda.
10:38So I would back Punjab.
10:39But funny things happen.
10:40You never know.
10:41Probably this time,
10:43Gautam might trump me.
10:50Well, cool.
10:51I mean, I think...
10:51Unless anyone's got anything else to add,
10:53any interesting observations,
10:56I think we're all set.
10:57And we'll look ahead to tomorrow.
10:58I mean, that's going to be a...
11:00Like I said, the battle of the kings.
11:01First of all,
11:02obviously, thanks to all the guys,
11:03especially Preet for joining us tonight.
