00:00Since the whole work-from-home regime started, it's been so good to be home and be with my little girl.
00:07It's actually a motivator for me.
00:10The more time I get to spend with her, the more motivated I feel to work.
00:14If I complete my work, I know I get to spend more time with her.
00:17It's just like a cycle of motivation going on.
00:20It's been amazing, actually. It's so nice.
00:23It's so good to be home and to have a proper work-life balance.
00:27As much as I do miss office life and being able to talk to my colleagues freely and easily,
00:34I think that I would prefer working from home.
00:38I think it allows me to be proactive.
00:42It gives me a better balance between work, between health, between family.
00:47And the cut-down time with traveling makes you realize that you can do so much in that time.
00:55That's 45 minutes to an hour where you either get to go to the gym,
01:00where you get to feed your baby cereal,
01:03if you have a last-minute errand to run in the morning.
01:06Same with in the evening.
01:08You've got that time to do something else.
01:12I think this is kind of like a development for the future.
01:16Everybody is on a call. You hop onto a call. You talk together.
01:21Everybody is so onto technology.
01:24And this is just another step in that direction.
01:27I would like to see it take in that place, especially for parents.
01:31Because parents that find it easily, of course, and want that option,
01:36I'd like to see it step into that direction.
01:39Because it allows you to balance your life a lot more easily.
01:42So COVID-19 hit and we all had to start working from home.
01:46We all had to adapt to that new work environment, the remote working aspect very, very quickly.
01:52I think for me it has worked personally because I have two very young kids.
01:57One is an infant and I've been able to see her take her first steps
02:02and achieve a lot of milestones which I don't think I would have otherwise.
02:06And my toddler, I've been able to help him with his distance learning as well.
02:12So it's been great in terms of being able to juggle both work and time with the kids.
02:19On the other hand, what I have missed about being in the physical workspace,
02:24being alongside my colleagues is this interaction, the brainstorming sessions.
02:30Because being face to face and having that interaction together in a room,
02:37for example, without social distancing is very different.
02:41So I do believe in the future we can adapt to a mix of both working from home and working from office.
02:48I think it will give us great flexibility and it will help us in terms of productivity.
02:57As my job profile goes, I cannot work from home.
03:00I have to go to the hospital, I have to go to the clinic to go and see my patients.
03:05And working from home is simply not feasible as far as a doctor is concerned.
03:12At best, what I can do is if a patient doesn't want to come to the clinic or the hospital,
03:18a lot of patients are scared, they're worried, they're virtually paranoid.
03:22So what I can do is just give them a teleconsultation.
03:26We have facilities for teleconsult.
03:29And I can even visually see the child on video, rashes and other things and give them a teleconsultation.
03:39And we have facilities for even giving a teleprescription.
03:44So a child can be prescribed after I see him and I have an idea as to what's going on.
03:50Now as far as the kids are concerned, the good thing about children staying at home,
03:55which is that you can follow the three W's and have things much more under control,
04:03which means you can wash your hands, keep a social distancing between kids,
04:09and masking if required.
04:13At home, you may not require it if it's just the family.
04:16You may not require the mask, you may not require these things.
04:20But in an environment where children are together or there are more than a certain number,
04:30then these things can be monitored better at home.
04:34So work from home is a different story for a doctor,
04:40and it's a totally different story for other people who are working from home in offices and stuff like that.
04:49Fortunately, unfortunately, we don't have that luxury.
