00:00Hi everyone, this is Yusra from Gulf News and today we're standing at one of the most popular mountains in the UAE, Jebel Jais.
00:08We are at the base camp of the Bear Grylls Explorer Camp, which is kind of an adventure explorer learn how to survive in the wild situation.
00:19Everyone who knows Bear Grylls knows that this is like something he does, man versus wild.
00:26So today we are going to basically learn how to build our own fire, learn how to forage for food and do so much more building shelter.
00:36Basically learning how to survive in the wild.
00:38We're going to be hiking up Jebel Jais and back down into a wadi.
00:42So stay with us and watch one of the most exciting videos that I'm going to be doing with Gulf News.
00:49The world's first Bear Grylls Explorer Camp on Jebel Jais in Ras Al Khaimah isn't for the faint of heart or the weak of legs.
00:57I mean, you know Bear Grylls, right? The guy who drinks his own urine, bites fish heads off and can jump off a cliff into a random lake.
01:06Yeah, that's him. So you can expect his survival camp to be a little bit like that.
01:13You learn how to build a fire, tie a knot that could save your life and how to use a knife without hurting yourself or the people around you.
01:21You'll be waking up at the crack of dawn and heading into the mountains of Raq.
01:26You'll be hiking with a big backpack in the heat or the cold, depending on which time of the year you do this.
01:33You'll be pushed to try things you've never done before.
01:36Eat worms, run as fast as possible through unkempt, bumpy terrain full of sharp edged rocks and more.
01:43And then you'll end the experience by abseiling down a mountain.
01:47It's the only way down, so you really have to be open to pushing your fear away and committing to it.
01:53The survival course is run by UK experts trained at the Bear Grylls Survival Academy and ranges from half days to full days.
02:02So all in all, it's a really amazing experience, especially for those people who live in the UAE and want to experience an outdoor life.
02:10We don't really get that much of it because we're mostly always in the city.
02:14But this is such a nice experience, especially here in Ras al-Khaimah where it's a little bit cooler at Jebel Jais.
02:22So make sure you come down and try it yourself, especially if you love nature.
