00:00The National Bureau of Investigation will treat the complaints filed against Vice President Sara Duterte as an ordinary case.
00:08This is in line with the complaint of VP Sara to President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., First Lady Liza Marcos, and House Speaker Martin Romualdez.
00:16In the Mike Abelive program, DOJ Undersecretary Jesse Andres said that the first thing they will do is the initial evaluation.
00:24Here, they will review the evidence submitted by the NBI.
00:27If it is sufficient or not, the DOJ may conduct a case build-up for the NBI to ensure that the case is strong.
00:36Second, there will be a preliminary investigation where the Vice President will issue a statement,
00:43and the DOJ will give him a chance to give a statement.
00:47After this, it will be decided if the case will be brought to court or dismissed.
00:53Andres also added that they will do their job, whether the Vice President will help or not.
00:59It is a good example that our Vice President showed that she gave up because this is the process that is in the law.
01:09But even so, we don't need to disrespect the so-called right against self-incrimination.
01:18With or without her counter-affidavit, the Department of Justice has to do its duty to determine whether there is reason to file a case in court for a criminal offense or not.
01:29And we assure everyone that we will do this fairly and in a just manner to assure that the rule of law is observed.
