00:00But to give President Trump his due, in his first administration, he told NATO allies
00:05they weren't spending enough on defence. We still have a situation where only two-thirds
00:10of NATO countries are actually spending the target 2% of GDP on defence. I mean, that's
00:17not good enough, is it?
00:18No, it's not. But I will say that when President Trump left office, six NATO countries were
00:24hitting that target, and it's tripled roughly since then under the Biden administration
00:29through engagement. But President Trump, you know, he had the right point. And if this
00:35is going to motivate Europe to invest more in their own collective defence, that's all
00:40for the good and for the better, I think, from an American perspective, as long as we
00:45maintain strong, close ties with that NATO alliance.
