In other cities, skiing, snow rides and penguins may be part of a seasonal trip, but in Dubai – be it summer or winter – this is possible all year. Ski Dubai is one of the UAE’s top tourist destinations and is a world-class indoor ski resort. As part of this report, I spent the good part of an entire day playing in snow and trying out thrilling activities.

From having breakfast with cute penguins in tow to hurtling down a steep snow slope in an actual ball, my day at Ski Dubai definitely brought out the inner child in me.

00:00I want to go snowboarding, I want to go skiing in the middle of Dubai, at the heart of Dubai.
00:26I'm Nilanjana Javed, Senior News Editor from Gulf News, and come with me, we're going to
00:30spend a whole day in Ski Dubai today, and we'll tell us about your experience and what
00:34you can do with your family.
00:36Ski Dubai has recently won the world's best indoor ski resort, so come with me and share
00:42my experience in this most award winning journey.
00:56All that walk with the penguins has now made me very hungry, so I'm here at Lock 28 restaurant
01:05for some food and breakfast, come with me.
01:10Thank you, oh that looks delicious, for a nice chilly walk on the snow, what's best
01:16but to have a nice hot cup of coffee.
01:23You can have breakfast, you can choose one main course, and one juice, coffee, tea, whatever
01:30you like, water, whatever you like, for 1.75, great deal, especially when you have the penguins
01:36with you for breakfast.
01:42This is the most amazing hash brownies I've had, really nice, I'm going to go back to
01:46my food, I'm very hungry.
01:57And I'm ready to get inside the park, first things first, let's get geared up before we
02:02hit the snowboarding and the ski.
02:16That was fun, wow, for a minute I thought I lost my life.
02:32So, we're on top of the slope, I've never done tubing in my life, I'm nervous, but let's
02:47go and see what it's all about.
02:50No, I just want sweet, I'm not so adventurous.
02:55Okay.
03:13This is a Zorb Wall, I've never seen something as big as this on a snow, something very new,
03:20something very different.
03:22Looks like another snow adventure, come let's check it out.
03:27Head first?
03:29Then?
03:36Like this?
03:38Okay.
03:40Yeah.
03:43Okay.
03:50Yeah.
03:58This is crazy stuff, I can tell you, it's fun but it's really crazy, you have to have
04:04a nerve of steel to do this.
04:14Alright, this is our final destination, we're going up with a chairlift and we will go on
04:20right on top of the snow.
04:44After a long day's activity, I'm finally here to unwind at the snow cinema and I'm
04:51going to just relax and let the whole day settle in.
04:59You can snuggle in a warm woolen blanket, you have the heaters on right in front of
05:04you and you have a wonderful wide screen where you can watch a nice movie and snow around
05:11you, what more could you ask?
05:13I love it.
