00:00I am just so excited to be back.
00:03I didn't think I'd be back this soon,
00:06and I'm just so happy that I am.
00:10I've been performing.
00:12Work didn't really stop in the last two years,
00:16but no audiences.
00:18So it was all like I kind of learned how to,
00:22you know, do all the logistics.
00:25I learned so many things during the pandemic.
00:28How to mount a production,
00:30how to perform without,
00:33you know, anyone helping us do it.
00:36I'm a very relational artist.
00:40My songs are,
00:44my goal is kind of to make my songs
00:46the friend that I never had
00:47in the seasons that I wrote them,
00:50during the seasons that I wrote them.
00:52And so to be able to sing this
00:55in front of these people that I write it for,
01:00to be able to hear the voices of these people again,
01:04I'm just, I don't know what to say.
01:07I'm just really excited.
01:08I do write most of my songs from authentic experiences,
01:11but then some of the songs that I write also
01:15are the experiences of the people that I love.
01:18I think it's really important for us writers
01:22to really come from real places.
01:25You know, there's something so validating
01:29when what you listen to is from a real place.
01:34And I know that for me,
01:38when I was still dreaming of becoming an artist,
01:41the artists that I looked up to,
01:45the lyrics that they would write,
01:46the songs that they would write
01:48would bring me so much healing.
01:50And I knew that it was because of the stories that they tell
01:53and the stories that they actually lived in.
01:56And so that's kind of what I wanted to bring into my music
02:00and to bring healing, to bring validation, to bring hope.
02:05I started writing when I was 12
02:06and from 12 to 23, 24, it would just come.
02:13And I would, the melody and the lyrics
02:16would come at the same time.
02:20But when my career started unfolding even more,
02:24of course, the pressure started coming in
02:26and it wasn't as easy to write anymore.
02:29But that also challenged me to find
02:33other avenues to be able to write.
02:35So sometimes I would have this line
02:38and it's just the killer line in the song
02:41and then I'd start building on it.
02:44Most of the time, my melodies come first
02:46and my husband Jason would fill in the words for me.
02:51And so there's a lot of processes
02:54that I've learned over the years,
02:56especially with all the collaborations
02:58that I've been doing.
02:59I've been learning so much from the artists
03:00that I collaborate with
03:02and of course from my best friends.
03:03So two years ago, before the pandemic,
03:08I recorded four songs
03:11from Grammy Award winning producers
03:14that I still can't believe
03:16I got to work with.
03:18And the songs have just been there.
03:20And 2022 is the year
03:25that I get to share it with people.
03:27So that's a lot different
03:31from the arrangements
03:33that I usually have for my songs.
03:35But the storytelling is still there.
03:36My style of writing is still there,
03:38although they're all English.
03:40So I'm very excited for that.
03:41I do release English songs,
03:43but the majority of the songs
03:46that I release are in Tagalog.
03:48So I'm just excited.
