00:00In Italy we call it cold ironing, in technical language OPS, onshore power supply,
00:09that is the supply of electrical energy from land to the ships to prevent them from polluting when they park in the ports.
00:15It may seem like a very simple solution, but in reality it is a solution that many ports struggle to achieve.
00:22This work, 81 million euros, included in PNR funding,
00:28allows us to build nine charging stations, not all of them dedicated to cruising,
00:34but also five dedicated to cargo ships and trawlers.
00:37And now, if you want, the first stage of that great path of energy revolution
00:43in relation to the transition of ports towards greater sustainability
00:48and greater energy independence from fossil fuels, which is an inevitable path,
00:54has already started in many other countries and is already starting in this one,
00:58thanks to the strong commitment of the national government with the funds of the so-called Next Generation EU.
01:04It is true that the city must be able to feel its own port, but the port must also feel its own city.
01:10We are one thing, the culture of the port areas is conditioned by the ports,
01:15the identity, the traditions, even the food.
01:17Civitavecchia has shown a very strong ability to recover,
01:21it has shown that it can compete internationally.
01:24We are the sixth or seventh port in the world, depending on how much the statistics of the other ports make up.
01:29We are not.
01:31We are already playing at the European level to take the first place in the Mediterranean basin and therefore all over Europe.
01:39So I would say there is a lot to do, there is a lot to improve, there is a lot to build,
01:45because this wealth, also represented by this leadership in the cruises,
01:48for example, has been little shared with the territory of Lazio
01:51and has represented less current wealth than an enormous potential yet to be exhaled.
01:56So, of course, there are plows to work on,
01:59but they are plows on which we can build forts of a certain security in ourselves,
02:04which is what has been missing from this territory for many centuries, I would say.
02:08A marginalized and self-induced sense of inferiority.
02:12We do not feel better than anyone, but not even worse than anyone.
