00:13She is one of the important leaders in the development of Qilongpo.

00:20she participated in the founding.

00:22And in 1902, she was appointed by the British colonial government as the first Chinese state member of Xuanhe.

00:26Chen Xiulian was born in a poor farmer's home in Guangdong, China.

00:29She left her hometown when she was 16 years old and came to Malaya.

00:31She once set foot in Pirinari,

00:32and then followed the road to Qilongpo.

00:34In the glorious days of the tin mining industry,

00:35she founded a tin company

00:37and saw the right time to open the first iron mill on Anbang Road.

00:40She successfully led the development of the machinery industry in Qilongpo.

00:42She is known as the father of the iron mill.

00:44In memory of Chen Xiulian,

00:45the British colonial government opened a mechanical industrial area near the new street,

00:49which became the earliest industrial area in Qilongpo,

00:50and named the main road as Chen Xiulian Road.

00:53The station here is also the station named after the Chinese poet Wei Er in Qilongpo.
