00:00Celebrations are underway for Dubai's Sikh community as they gather to celebrate the
00:05birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji at the Dubai Sikh Temple in Jabal Ali.
00:10I think it's very important to keep in mind Guru Nanak Dev Ji's teachings. He taught about
00:15Ek Onkar, which is oneness of humanity. He taught about how we have to work hard, we
00:23have to share, and we have to do our living in an honest manner. I think all those things
00:30are very important. These are eternal teachings. He also taught about protecting the nature
00:35and respecting the women, again some things that are very eternal. So I'm very happy that
00:42on 550 years we are learning about all these things once more.
00:47In solidarity with UAE's Year of Tolerance, Her Excellency Sheikha Lubna bin Khalid Al
00:52Khasimi, close friend of the Indian community, was on hand to pay her respects.
00:57All religions subscribe to humanity, peace, and giving to others, and this is a testimony
01:03to that. We are the Year of Tolerance, and the fact that Sundar, Babus, and the community
01:12here have done this, for us it's a great appreciation, because this is also a reflection of the community
01:19of the United Arab Emirates.
01:20The festival program runs until Friday and will have performances and speeches from many
01:24dignitaries from around the region. Logan Fish for Gulf News.
