00:00If at some point you're not ready yet to do the full split, you can bend using your shoulders.
00:08Hi my name is Rose and today I will be teaching Angel and then to have an experience of what
00:14swing yoga is. So do you want to start now? Yeah sure. Do you have a background of swing yoga? No, not at all.
00:20How about yoga? Nothing. Okay then that will be fine. So we're gonna do some basic poses for beginners.
00:26One around the heel.
00:29Feel your breath. Exhale.
00:33I had never tried yoga before and began my first experience with perhaps the most peculiar type,
00:41aerial yoga. Aerial yoga is a type of modern yoga developed in 2014, combining traditional yoga
00:49poses, Pilates and dance with the use of a hammock. I entered the room to find a plethora of
00:56hammocks hanging from the ceiling. The instructor helped me perform a variety of yoga poses whilst
01:03on a hammock. This included hanging upside down, stretching into almost an entire split
01:10and twisting my legs in ways where I essentially felt like a human pretzel. During each awkwardly
01:17positioned pose, the instructor repeatedly asked me to inhale and exhale. With a lot of difficulty,
01:25I was trying to balance myself in each pose and wasn't really focusing on the breathing.
01:31However, once I started giving importance to the breathing part of the process,
01:36a calming sensation took over and I was able to conduct the exercises with more ease.
01:43If you're intrigued by unique forms of exercise, aerial yoga is the perfect workout for you.
01:53How are you feeling now? Better, much better.
01:57And if you need to cool down, breathe in through your mouth and exhale through your nose.
