00:00Ramadan is a blessed month for all Muslims and we celebrate it like all families together.
00:11So it's a month of reflecting on oneself, praying more, doing more good deeds.
00:22It's a time of, this month is very special to grasp the opportunity of reflecting more
00:29on the spiritual level.
00:30So we're packing fruits for the Ramadan fridges and we'll go distribute them in a bit.
00:36We're packing apples, oranges, bananas, dates, and then we have dry stuff over there.
00:43So Ramadan back home had a different taste.
00:49The whole family gathering is different so each one prepares a certain dish and the nicest
00:57part is preparing for iftar together and then going after iftar for prayers together
01:05and the kids getting together.
01:07So I try to maintain the same typical or traditional dishes that we used to have in Lebanon and
01:14basically it's the fattoush, that's the salad, and the soup is the lentil soup.
01:19So that's a stable thing in Ramadan on our table.
01:24And then the main course changes, but then the appetizers, there are so many appetizers
01:28in the Lebanese cuisine and I try to limit that.
01:33Actually I try to prepare before Ramadan because those take a lot of work, like the cheese
01:38rolls and the kibbeh and the vine leaves, the stuffed vine leaves, so those take a lot
01:43of time to prepare.
01:45The drink, there's a special drink, it's called jellab, and you find it here as a concentrate
01:51and then you mix it at home, but you don't find the original one which we used to buy
01:56from certain shops.
02:00So it has a different flavor, it's not artificial, it's not as sweet, that's something that I
02:06don't find here easily.
