00:00David, I play guitar.
00:02Mark, I sing.
00:04Axel, drums.
00:06I ride.
00:31We started out as a songwriting collaboration between me and David.
00:37Band leader, there's no such thing.
00:40We basically run a democratic band.
00:45So we pitch in ideas and we all decide on how the band goes forward.
00:52We all have different music that we got our influence from.
00:58It's a bit of everything. We're very open to all kinds of music.
01:02We are a hard rock, soulful hard rock band.
01:10We just kind of made that up.
01:12Because we can't think of any.
01:14Because we can't think of any, yes.
01:16We all have different musical idols, if we can say that.
01:20For me, it's Kevin Roy from Razorback and Mark Abaya of Kwan.
01:26I would say Kurt Cobain.
01:30I'm more into metal. I used to follow and listen to August Burns.
01:36As I Lay Dying.
01:38There's a lot actually.
01:40Some from the local music scene of the Philippines.
01:56Baguio is about wanting someone so bad.
02:00But you know you can't have them or you can't be with them.
02:05But you know that both of you wanted each other but you just can't.
02:09So that's how Baguio is written.
02:12It's more like what GMA said.
02:16The biggest struggle here are the permits.
02:18Because Dubai is rich with musicians with all these talents that write their own music.
02:24But there are not enough venues to showcase their talent.
02:28Because of the hurdle of the permit.
02:32Basically the freedom.
02:34Because in the Philippines they have freedom to play anywhere they want.
02:40I mean the organizers can host events without any permits.
02:48And compared to here it's really difficult.
02:53Because we all have to get permits.
02:55Well we wanted to get signed but we had no idea how.
03:00We had no idea how to get the attention of the label.
03:03Because we've been trying it.
03:05We've been in different bands for the past years.
03:08But we still didn't get noticed.
03:23I'm very grateful to have met Joe Manila and Radio Manila.
03:28Who have taken care of us all the way from...
03:34I would like to say that he scouted us.
03:36From the time that they scouted us until they got us the label.
03:41They laid out the tour dates last February.
03:48We are very, very grateful.
03:50I think that our story helps as well.
03:53We are just very fortunate enough that we've met Joe.
03:57Our manager.
03:59I'll just give you a brief story on how we met.
04:03He's the manager of Kwan.
04:05And when they played here we supported them.
04:09We played as a front pack for Kwan.
04:12And after our show he approached us and he said...
04:16Guys, you've got something.
04:18You've got a story that you are in UAE.
04:20You're doing this.
04:21And I absolutely love your music.
04:23And I would like to bring you to the Philippines.
04:25And get you signed to the label.
04:27At that point we were just thinking...
04:30Yeah man, you're just saying that.
04:32But he pushed through.
04:34After three months he gave us a call.
04:37And next thing you know we're in the Philippines.
04:40Next thing you know we're in the Philippines touring with a label.
04:44It's just, I think, luck.
04:46Somebody up there wants us to have this.
05:11Kwan.
05:30Basically when we do practices...
05:32We make sure that our work doesn't get affected.
05:36I mean...
05:39In case we go back to the Philippines...
05:42We also make sure that it wouldn't get affected.
05:46We are also saving up our lives.
05:49It's basically just time management.
05:51And of course our family and work is still more important.
05:56Probably the direction of the band.
05:57Yeah, the band.
05:58Not our lives.
05:59But the direction and the thinking of the band.
06:01That changed.
06:02We are more focused.
06:04We're more disciplined.
06:06And now we're more focused on our quality.
06:08Because now we set targets.
06:11And of course, with being signed in a label...
06:15There will be some expectations from other bands.
06:19Of course from the management and from friends.
06:21From everyone listening to your music.
06:23Exactly.
06:24So suddenly all eyes are on you.
06:26The financial side, we're still waiting for that.
06:29We're still broke.
06:31We're still broke, yes.
06:34Because we just got signed.
06:36And our music just got released.
06:38So there really is no money coming through.
06:41He actually came up with that name.
06:44Why?
06:45Why Gatilio?
06:48I want people to reference our song from the band name.
06:54If you think of Gatilio, in English it's Trigger.
06:57So it kind of...
07:00I want people who watch us...
07:03To give them an impression that we're somehow a band with a bang.
07:08The album?
07:29The album...
07:31We would like to think that it's going to come out this October.
07:36We're kind of working on it.
07:39Hopefully it's out in October.
