'Amandaland' star Dame Joanna Lumley could not stop herself from giving a controversial U.S. politician a Valentine's Day card.

00:22and there was a great big lunch and it was Valentine's Day and we had all kind of heart

00:27related things sprinkled apart on the table. And so I got one of the hearts and I wrote

00:32on the back of it, be my valentine xxxxx and I gave it to one of the waiters and I said

00:36take it away. So he shimmered over, Mayor Giuliani who'd got his girlfriend or his wife

00:40with him anyway and he received this and he went like that and he looked at it and she

00:43went, I felt so happy. Adrian Edmondson gave the answer to that, he said don't get divorced.

01:00Long marriage is that, exactly that, but actually blessed. Just work it out. I think a lot of

01:08it starts rather boringly on respect. You've got to respect your partner, you've got to

01:12love them, you never feel contempt. If you have contempt in your body at any stage don't

01:17even start going out with them. You've got to pretty much adore them, have a bit of a

01:21crush on them I think. Don't spend too much time together all the time, don't be together

01:26on top of each other all the time. Try to be good and try to treat that person as a

01:30special person all the time. Like mad, make them precious and loved.
