Countries react to US President Trump's 25% tariff on steel imports

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is among the leaders who have hit back at US tariffs. He called them "unjustified" and vowed swift retaliation.

00:00Countries across the world are reacting to President Donald Trump's announcement that

00:05all steel imports to the U.S. will be taxed at a minimum of 25 percent.

00:11EU leaders have vowed the tariffs will not go unanswered and will be met with tough countermeasures,

00:17while Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau says Canadians will stand up strongly and

00:22firmly against the U.S.

00:25I will work with the American administration and highlight that imports of Canadian steel

00:30and aluminum create thousands if not millions of jobs and support families across the United

00:36States. We have been doing things together in an extraordinarily integrated way for many,

00:41many years and we will look to continue to work with our closest ally and partner. We

00:46should be doing more together, not fighting with each other.

00:51Japan's Chief Cabinet Secretary Hayashi Yoshimasa announced that Tokyo has requested an exemption

00:58from the tariffs and Mexico's economy secretary says he plans to present his country's arguments
