00:00As a kid, I discovered film making.
00:03This was me, five years ago,
00:06making documentary films and traveling the world.
00:10And then I was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis.
00:15When you feel down, think of other countries, other people.
00:20I get a film grant and take off for India.
00:23Maybe I can find something here to make me better.
00:26But I'm getting worse so fast.
00:28I feel like my time is running out.
00:33I can't believe that this has happened so fast.
00:42Quit your film right now. How does it feel? Just quit.
00:44I'm not going to quit the film.
00:46To help me gain perspective, my mom takes me to an MS support group.
00:50There was this girl there.
00:52Her name is Alice, and I got her phone number.
00:55I decide to give Alice a call.
00:58I may be walking slower, but inside, I'm racing.
01:02That was really, really fun.
01:07I sent an email to my dad and I said,
01:09can you date someone with MS?
01:12And my dad said, yes, I'm dating someone with MS right now.
01:16Do you ever wish that your mom was here?
01:19Yeah.
01:21But I wish you were able-bodied.
01:25He's like this incredible person.
01:31It's not right.
01:49But her lady didn't cure him. Instead, she gave him another miracle.
01:53What's that?
01:54Alice.
01:55How is it that you're so magical?
02:10It's hard to know where our stories are going as they're being written.
02:13That's the mystery of fate.
