00:00Many people have known wrestling by watching pro wrestling, the popular TV show that portrays

00:14a multidiscipline combat sport.

00:16Pro wrestling is massively popular in the USA, Mexico, and Japan.

00:20It also has potential to be a popular sport in the Middle East, especially in the UAE.

00:25For me, it was more of a thing that I loved because I saw it on TV more for me in the

00:30household as an Emirati, seeing the people in America do something that no one does in

00:36Emirates.

00:37So it was something unique and different that caught my eye.

00:42In Dubai, Dubai Pro Wrestling Academy serves as the local version of the World Wrestling

00:47Entertainment in the Emirates.

00:49The academy, which hosts events every Friday, they have wrestlers from Egypt, Lebanon, India,

00:54Pakistan, New Zealand, the UK, UAE, and other countries.

00:58We're creating the first Middle Eastern stars.

01:01So in a few years, you'll see guys like Faiyaz Ali Murad and Savage Sam, you'll see them

01:05on these big stage at WrestleMania and other places.

01:08So that's what that's really what it is.

01:10The main challenge for all of us is make the people happy, because if you are not good

01:16in the ring, the people will leave us, the people will say, OK, they cannot do it.

01:20They are not the good people.

01:22So they will stop watching us.

01:23Making the people from one year ago to now increasing maybe 10 times, that means that

01:29we are doing our part in the ring.

01:31A lot more people are finding out about us.

01:32Our popularity is growing very fast.

01:35Just with this, you see all the people that are here tonight, everyone's kind of hearing

01:38the thuds and the slams and they turn and they see what we're doing.

01:41And it's the same thing that they're watching on TV every week.

01:43So I think people are just now realizing that there is a Dubai version of the kind of wrestling

01:49that they're watching on TV every week.

01:51Dubai Pro Wrestling Academy trains people to become a pro wrestler.

01:55They teach the students how to perform in the ring like they're heroes.

02:02It was more of fitness and more of your self-control of your body and your mental state, how you

02:09would control yourself in the ring and like how you would get people get injured in this

02:15business.

02:16So it's very physically draining.

02:18So we would have to mentally, like it was mentally difficult.

02:21And fitness wise, we had to cope with our weight and we had to eat right and so many

02:27things in that aspect.

02:28Whether you're into it for pure fun or sports, Dubai Pro Wrestling Academy is looking to

02:33train a new generation of ring warriors in Dubai.
