00:08An Indian court has convicted 24 suspects, 11 of them for murder, for their part in religious
00:14riots in 2002 in western India. Their sentences will be announced next week.
00:19Those convicted of murder could be sentenced to death. The judge acquitted 36 charged in
00:24connection with the rioting in Ahmedabad, the main city in Gujarat state, in which 69
00:29people, including former Congress lawmaker Ehsan Jafri, were killed.
00:33The UAE Telecommunications Regulatory Authority has issued a directive ordering Etisalat
00:39and DO to put a ceiling or hard cap on their mobile data bundles to protect consumers from
00:44unwittingly incurring disproportionately higher additional charges.
00:48The directive obligates the operators to limit the supply of mobile data to the size of the
00:53bundle. Once the bundle is exhausted, the licensee cannot supply any further mobile
00:58data unless the consumer gives express consent.
01:02A humanitarian convoy reached a starved suburb of Syria's capital for the first time since
01:072012 but did not bring any food as the opposition called for a countrywide ceasefire for Ramadan
01:14and aid access for all Syrians. The UN estimates that 4,000 to 8,000 people live in the Damascus
01:20suburb of the Raya.
01:22People magazine reports that Calvin Harris and pop superstar Taylor Swift have parted
01:27ways after 15 months of dating. The two haven't been spotted together in recent weeks and
01:32Swift remained mum after Harris was involved in a car accident, causing him to cancel performances
01:38while he recovered from injuries.
