Iftar for the elderly orphans at the Family Gathering Centre

00:00The Family Gathering is the only nursing home that we have in Dubai.

00:09It belongs to Dubai Health Authority.

00:12The center works into two main functions.

00:16It's a long-term care facility for the inpatients, elderly,

00:20and it's a daycare center for the outpatients.

00:23Currently 29 inpatients and we have around 140 outpatients.

00:29Once they are here, the center turns to be their home.

00:32DHA is providing everything for them and we turn to be their children actually.

00:37One of the main activities that we have in the center is to cater for all the companies,

00:45associations, either governmental or private.

00:48If they would like to do any kind of corporate social responsibility, we are the right place.

00:53It is a pleasure that we are here together in the Family Gathering Community Center in Dubai,

01:00where we, myself and the team, are arranging for a nice iftar for all the patients

01:06that are being taken care of here in the community center.

01:10It is a desire for us, for both Jumeirah Rotana and Rotana as another company,

01:17to give something back to the community.

01:19It is all about sharing, it is all about coming together,

01:22and therefore everybody sharing the meal here together,

01:25I have to say I find that an amazing experience.

01:28I find it just beautiful to see and especially see the happy faces around,

01:32that this is really appreciated and really enjoyed first and foremost.

01:36And this actually helps the patient feel their value,

01:41when they feel that somebody is coming specifically for them,

01:45especially in these days of Ramadan, bringing iftar and trying to share it with them.

01:50This is very healthy and very good for them.

01:53I would like to thank Rotana Hotel for hosting this occasion.

01:57It was very noble for them to hold this occasion,

02:02to participate in the happiness of the old people who don't have to feel neglected.

02:09Especially in this month, everybody is gathering in the house with his family,

02:14so they feel this gathering that it has a family atmosphere for them.

02:51for anybody, everybody is happy.

02:54What our patients need at this stage of their life is love and care,

02:59and this is what we are trying to provide.

03:01So my message for all the families who have older people,

03:05is to sit with them, talk to them, and let them feel that they are very important.
