00:09top stories at this hour. Unknown armed individuals opened fire this morning on the U.S. consulate

00:14in Istanbul amid high tensions in Turkey due to Ankara's bombing campaign against Kurdish

00:19rebels. Local media said two attackers, one man and one woman, fled after police fired

00:24back near the consulate. Broadcaster NTV said police later detained the female suspect who

00:29was wounded in the gunfire. The attack came after a suspected suicide bomber in a vehicle

00:34packed with explosives attacked a police station earlier that day, wounding 10 people, including

00:38three policemen. Two people were struck by gunfire during a confrontation on Sunday between

00:43riot police and protesters in Ferguson, Missouri. The violence came after a day of peaceful

00:48events commemorating the fatal shooting of an unarmed black teenager by a white officer

00:52one year ago. Gunshots erupted as police were seeking to disperse a crowd of demonstrators
