00:00The UAE will host another major cricket event next year, as cricket legends from around
00:18the world gather for the Masters Champions League.
00:21Cricket legends including Brian Lara, Jack Callis and Adam Gilchrist will play in the
00:252020 tournament that will kick off in February.
00:28The three joined Pakistan great Waseem Akram, former Australia batsman Alan Border and ex-England
00:34captain Graham Gooch, who were members of the league's governing council during the
00:38Masters Champions League's launch at the Burj Al Arab.
00:41The cricket icons talked to the press about the tournament.
00:44It will be fun, it will be exciting and we were professional, we still are professional
00:48and by the time it starts we'll make sure we'll be physically and mentally, we'll give
00:53100% like Gillie mentioned and yeah, we're all looking forward to it, something very
00:57different I thought it will never happen, that we'll be asked to come and play a game
01:04but cricket that's the only thing we know.
01:06I think that as we see in T20 cricket now around the world that the top players make
01:11the adjustments and are successful in all formats, so you know it's going to be a challenge
01:20for those guys but I'm sure that they've observed enough T20 cricket to know how to go about
01:26it and what the game plans are and the ways to approach it so I'm sure they'll fit in
01:31and there'll be a place, there'll be room for all types of players.
01:34I think what you don't realise, the guy who's missing on the screen, Jack Cullis, you're
01:39going to have a lot of players like that, just recently retired and would have had a
01:43taste of T20 so you're not going to have that amount of players that have to make that move
01:48from playing test cricket or 50 over game and don't know what to do in the T20 version.
01:54I think we're going to have a lot of guys like Rickie Thorning or the old potential
01:57players in this league, Jai Wardiner, Sangakara, I'm just calling names, I'm not saying the
02:02sign up but those are the players that are most likely going to be very much attracted
02:05to playing in this league.
02:06The inaugural edition will see six teams with 15 members each, making a total of 90 players.
02:12Matches will be held at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Sharjah Cricket Stadium and
02:16Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi.
02:18The league is expected to run for more than two weeks.
