00:00Commuting in Dubai has just been made a whole lot easier as the Dubai Tram opened to the

00:12public on November 11, 2014. The highly anticipated rail system serves the JBR, Marina and Sufa

00:19areas spanning 10.6 km with 11 stations and 11 trams under the initial stage. 14 more

00:28trams are expected to be added raising the total to 25 and 6 more stations will bring

00:33the entire tram network to 17 stations after the completion of the second stage. Each tram

00:41measures 44 m in length and has a capacity to accommodate 400 riders and boasts gold

00:46class, ladies and silver class cabins. Passenger platform stations are air conditioned, extend

00:53and are fitted with screen doors extending along the platform, automated doors and fair

00:58collection machines. The tram has seen a lot of riders in its first full day of operation

01:04and passengers are well pleased with this new and innovative mode of transportation.

01:22The tram is expected to serve about 27,000 riders from the start of operations in 2014

01:45and the ridership is anticipated to hit about 66,000 riders by 2020, greatly reducing road
