00:19first ever Desert Warrior Challenge took place on Friday, October 17th at Jebel Ali Golf

00:24Resort and Spa and drew over 2,000 athletes from all around the UAE.

00:31The event used a challenging series of obstacles designed to test the physical power, mental

00:35strength, teamwork and overall fitness of each and every warrior.

00:46Competitors had the option of competing in the 5k challenge or the 10k challenge, with

00:50each course consisting of a wide range of obstacles, having the participants run, crawl,

00:55jump, carry, climb and slide their way to the finish line.

01:13We are a brand new organization in the United Arab Emirates, we're a fun adventure obstacle

01:19We're out there to push people to step outside their comfort zone, challenge themselves,

01:23get out there, be a warrior, release their inner warrior, try things they've never done

01:27before.

01:28Ruling, running, climbing, jumping, sliding, getting together as a team, you know, just

01:32getting out there and really pushing their limits and having a really good time as well.

01:36The event is an adventure obstacle course, it's a 10k and a 5k course.

01:40On the 10k course there's 24 obstacles spread out, on the 5k course there's 12 obstacles

01:45spread out, and you run, jump, slide, carry others, lift things, go under and basically

01:51just push yourself to the physical max to get around.

01:54There's a timed event, there is a winner for the really seriously hardcore competitors,

01:58but for the rest of it it's just fun for everyone to get out there and have a good time.

02:02Each course catered for participants with various skill and fitness levels, from those

02:06of little physical fitness to the extreme athletes striving for the real warrior challenge.

02:11It was actually quite enjoyable, it was a little bit more running than I expected, but

02:17some of the obstacles were really hard, but I did enjoy it.

02:20What was the hardest part of the race?

02:22Actually some of the wall climbs and the quarter pipe.

02:25And are you going to do it again next year?

02:28Definitely, for sure.

02:41How did you do in today's race?

02:43Yeah, we did well.

02:4510km, I think 22 obstacles.

02:48The best one was probably the wall climbs and then the half pipe climb.

02:53The most unexpected one was the ice dunk, that was pretty chilly.

02:57So it's about, I don't know, 6-7k's, big skips, full of ice, and fully in, and it's pretty cold.

03:17Completing the Desert Warrior Challenge course is an accomplishment in of itself and requires

03:21mental toughness, physical strength and endurance.

03:24But most of all, the ability to work as a team to overcome the challenges that lie ahead.
