00:00If I could only name one match that stands out, it would have to be the infamous Cell
00:16match with The Undertaker.
00:19In our family we call it the heck in a cell, I don't know what I'm allowed to say here.
00:24I kind of resented being known only for that match for such a long time, but when people
00:30are still talking about something you did 15 years ago, 15 years after you did it, it's
00:37pretty reassuring and very gratifying to know that you've made an impact on their lives.
00:43That was a tough one, can only do that one once.
00:49My tag team with The Rock was my favorite.
00:53We had no idea that we were doing things that people would still be talking about 14
00:58years after.
00:59We didn't even have that many matches together, but what we did do was entertain.
01:03We really made people happy and we understand that when people tune into our show, they
01:11want to be entertained and that's exactly what we brought them.
01:16Those matches I had with Triple H at the end of my full-time career in 2000 and early 2000
01:24were really intense and both of us wanted to make statements.
01:28Me because my career was ending and Triple H because he was finally getting a chance
01:32to be the top guy and he had to be able to prove that he could do that.
01:37I wanted to go out with a flourish and so both of us achieved those goals and we had
01:43some amazing matches.
01:48This is breaking news, it's actually Brie Bella.
01:51I don't mean that in a romantic way, someone who sees the world the same way that I do,
01:57they have a lot in common with, isn't that crazy?
02:00But when I go to WWE, immediately she and I start chatting.
02:06So that's breaking news, my best friend in WWE is Brie Bella.
02:14Definitely not dude love, maybe the latter day mankind because he did make so many people
02:19smile.
02:24No, none of my three personas will ever wrestle again, I'm officially done.
02:32Three words, Tori Amos music.
02:35For real?
02:36Yeah, I would listen to her music before really tough matches.
02:43One song in particular would motivate me and make me feel tougher and stronger and braver.
02:50And she knows that, she really appreciates that.
02:52Which song was that?
02:53It was called Winter.
02:55So yeah, you can check it out and you'll be like, wait, that's what Mick used to listen
02:58to?
02:59It's the most beautiful song in the world.
03:04You're looking at it, there's not a part that hasn't been injured.
03:07Yeah, I mean, I have teeth gone and I have an ear missing.
03:11I wrestled a very physical style, but I wasn't reckless.
03:17I did take some risks and that ended up presenting itself over the years and knee injuries and
03:23back injuries.
03:25My joints are a little achy, but these were all things I knew would come along.
03:31Yeah, I wasn't so naive that I thought, well, I'll just hurl my body off of this platform
03:38onto a concrete floor for years.
03:41There'll be no consequences.
03:42So I knew, I know.
03:44I don't look that bad though, do I?
03:49I don't think we'll see another Attitude Era.
03:51I loved being part of the Attitude Era.
03:53I was probably the sexiest part of the Attitude Era.
03:57Yeah, Dude Love was very sexy.
03:59But as much as I loved it, there were times when I'd have to call home and tell my wife,
04:02OK, don't let the kids watch a certain thing that happens.
04:06So I believe that the current product has a better roster of superstars who are forced
04:11to be more creative.
04:13We still get every bit as intense.
04:17When CM Punk and Daniel Bryan go out there and they have their matches every bit as intense
04:23as any of the hardcore matches ever were, it's just not as graphic.
04:28More bloody, yeah.
04:33Honestly, I was thinking about this, and I actually have had far more failures in my
04:37life than I have had successes.
04:40But if you keep trying, you don't let other people tell you that you're a failure.
04:44You get to make that definite.
04:46You get to define what being a success is for yourself.
04:49So there will be some people who see me at a club telling my stories, the tales from
04:56Wrestling Past Tour, and they go, well, you used to perform in front of 20,000, and now
05:00you're in front of 200.
05:02And my answer is, you know what?
05:03I feel every bit as alive as I did when I was in the ring in front of 20,000, because
05:08it's about doing a good job and taking pride in the work you do.
05:15Be very realistic, be safe, and try to have fun, and don't let other people define for
05:21you what being a success is.
05:23Vince McMahon, a genius.
05:25Eric Bischoff, a lesser genius, but nonetheless, a very smart man.
05:31Triple H, intense.
05:34Undertaker.
05:36Phenom.
05:37Steve Austin.
05:38Respect.
05:40Y2J.
05:43Renaissance, man.
05:45I laugh, because he's a lot, you know, he and I are a lot alike.
05:48Shawn Michaels, the showstopper.
05:50Shawn Michaels, the showstopper.
05:52He really was.
05:53John Cena, underrated.
05:55Underrated by the critics.
05:58Yeah.
05:59The Rock, entertainer.
06:04I'm going to go with Terry Funk with an N at number one.
06:09I'm going to go with Shawn Michaels at number two.
06:13Ric Flair at number three.
06:15Put Bret Hart at five, and then say someone like an old star, like a Lucez or a Harley
06:24Race at number four.
06:27Hello, this is WWE Hall of Famer Mick Foley, and you are watching GNTV.
06:32Yeah!
