00:00This is for me in the business is quite hard for me. I need to always have a suit or long
00:11sleeves and stuff like that. Don't show in tattoos, you know, because otherwise the representation
00:17they look at me and they see it that let's don't talk with this guy, you know, but if
00:22they look me in a suit is a different thing, you know, they come and talk to me and it's
00:26easy for me to deal with the business.
00:28I don't tend to get any negative reactions as such and in terms of the work because I'm
00:32a freelance writer and I write from home, I don't have to really see anybody, so it
00:37doesn't really make a difference in terms of my work.
00:39Earlier in my life I played music and worked in the music industry so that was never a
00:44problem and switching, you know, moving into kitchens and or the culinary world per se,
00:51you know, there's a lot of basket cases. So what you put on your body in the form of
00:57tattoos or art is generally the least of people's worries.
01:02A lot of the time people will see me out with my children and think I'm the nanny or something
01:08along those lines because for some people tattoos equal trash for some reason or equal
01:14someone they would see as being further down the food chain which is obviously not really
01:18the case most of the time.
01:20I've stopped to help a lady with her, you know, tyre, change of tyre and she saw me
01:26get out of the car. I was wearing shorts and a t-shirt and she got in her car and
01:30locked the door and cracked the window about this far and she's like, do you need any help?
01:34She's like, yeah, I have a flat tyre. I was like, would you like me to change it? She's
01:37like, yes, please. Never got out of the car. I would presume it was because of tattoos,
01:43you know, but you're not going to change people's minds, so.
01:46They just found out often when they become friends of mine and they say, I didn't realize
01:49that you have a tattoo and I said, let's see, and they always think that you look like a
01:53really bad boy but in the end you are no bad boy, you know, you're a good, hard person.
01:57And exactly what I meant, you know, like tattoos doesn't mean that you're a bad boy. Tattoos
02:02doesn't mean that you're a criminal. Tattoos means something that your choice, you like
02:06it, you have it, something that's art.
02:08If people care that much about what the older generation thinks or, you know, people who
02:13are their parents' age, then they should probably just get something that's a little easier
02:18to cover up because people, you know, for the most part people don't change.
02:24I have people always question me why you never thought about the future, you know, you have
02:29a baby, how it's going to be, and the only answer I have that the present you need to
02:34live, you don't know what's going to happen tomorrow. So it's something that I would like
02:37to do today, I will do it. That is not kill people, that is not use drugs, that is not
02:43drinking, you know, things that bring bad for people, for the society, I'm not going
02:48to do it. I don't think tattoo is going to be a bad thing for the society, it's just
02:52art in your body.
02:53The shows you get on TV, the reality shows with the tattoo shops have probably done a
02:57little bit of good in the sense that they're kind of educating people that this is kind
03:02of a viable business for the artists and that kind of stuff. But yeah, just, you know, don't
03:07be too quick to judge, I guess.
