00:00I don't think I chose Dubai, I think Dubai chose us because it's a very integral part
00:13of Happy New Year.
00:14In fact, the New Year happens in Dubai and it's literally a character in the film.
00:21It's not just a city and I think Dubai has got beautiful locations, it's got the infrastructure,
00:27it's glamorous and it's got a culture that's not there anywhere else in the world, so which
00:33is why we all came here.
00:36Dubai for me has always been very, very special.
00:39I came here with my first film Om Shanti Om, Shah Rukh and Farah brought me here for the
00:44music launch and ever since then I've always felt like Dubai has treated me like family.
00:51I always feel at home, the warmth, the love, the appreciation, so thank you so much for
00:56all of that.
00:58We've had a wonderful shoot so far.
01:00We've always heard of the red carpet being rolled out but I can tell you safely that
01:06it's the first time that I've seen a red carpet rolled out studded with diamonds in the shape
01:11of hearts.
01:12I cannot thank you all so very much for not just the facility and not just the convenience
01:20but every single facility that's been meted out to us and given to us with so much love
01:25and every nook and corner and every door that's opened for us, I cannot thank you on
01:30behalf of the team.
01:31This is coming straight from the heart.
01:33It's not very often one gets to say things with such honesty and love.
01:37We were shooting at the Dubai Mall day before yesterday and the warmth with which the bystanders
01:45were just receiving us was very touching.
01:48It felt like they were welcoming us into their own homes.
01:52They almost took it upon themselves to help us with crowd control, to set up a shot.
01:56Some of them even actually volunteered and came and sat in the shot as extras.
02:00And it's this attitude which I'm very sure will encourage many more Indian filmmakers
02:06to come here and work because when you see that the entire city, not just the authorities
02:10but even the people want to go out of their way to make it possible for us to come here
02:14and make movies, I'm very sure that Farah will make you very proud and make Dubai very
02:19proud with her portrayal of this great city in the film.
02:23Dubai has been a very special city, I would say.
02:27The most important three things happened in my life.
02:30The first was City of Life, which made me a part of Dubai.
02:36And second, when I broke my leg six months back.
02:39And the third is definitely Happy New Year.
02:43I always used to say to my mother that an actor always waits for those phone calls to happen in his life.
02:50A phone rings and everything changes for you.
02:53I've done so many films but you always wait for her.
02:56Does your wife know she's not part of the festival?
02:59In Dubai!
03:04So I was waiting for my call and I remember when I got through that I should call Farah
03:11and I called her from back home and I said,
03:14Farah, I just want to be part of this family and just make it happen.
03:18And Farah just said, you know, you are there and all thanks to Shah Rukh Khan.
03:24I never thought that it'll happen so early in my career that I'll be sharing a screen space with him.
03:29It's certainly an honour to be here.
03:31I can't tell you how big an honour it is to be sharing screen space with Shah Rukh Khan.
03:36I mean, it's a dream come true.
03:38Ever since childhood, I mean, he's been my favourite actor.
03:42Does your father know this?
03:47And Farah Khan, who is truly a visionary and one of the finest filmmakers in the country, seriously,
03:53that I feel that she has a particular vision.
03:56You can also come late tomorrow.
03:59And I feel that the greatest thing about her films, something that I said to her when I first met her,
04:05is that her films reflect a great deep love for cinema and in particular for Indian cinema.
04:10You know, you have a lot of filmmakers around today who love world cinema and love all kinds of cinema,
04:15but I think she is truly someone who loves Indian cinema and we really need that, I feel, in our industry.
04:21And it's an honour to be a part of that movement.
04:25Diwan, you don't have to come tomorrow.
04:29I've always thought of the way as my second home, second place where I come.
04:33I enjoy it most here when I'm with my children and I wish they were here,
04:38but I'll come down for the holidays, for the new year, to spend time with them.
04:41It has been a dream for me that I come and do some concrete work.
04:45I come here, I've always, like I always say, I've felt extreme warmth and goodness from the people,
04:50from all over the world, one of the most cosmopolitan places in the world,
04:55one of the best infrastructures in the world, like Diwan said, an iconic place.
05:01I just love the way the city breathes and you have something for everyone here.
05:08But there was always a desire that I'd come here and do what I do best, which is to try and act in a film.
05:13And I think I'm extremely fortunate, prayers have been answered that I got this opportunity
05:18where Farah decided that most of the film is set here, in Dubai,
05:23and we are being able to shoot it here and have a great time.
05:27So thank you very much, Dubai, for allowing me to fulfil my dream and my prayers
05:31to come here and do some concrete work.
05:33And as I said in the beginning, I promise you, on behalf of this whole wonderful team,
05:37Sono, Abhishek, Farah, Deepika, Diwan, Bauman, and all of us,
05:42some of us who are not present here, behind the scenes, who work really hard,
05:45get up early in the morning and we're just the face of it,
05:48the men and women who've been working behind the scenes,
05:51I promise on behalf of all of them that we will make a film that will make the city very, very proud.
05:56And that will be the nicest and the best way we can thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
06:02So thank you, Dubai, and may Allah bless you.
