00:08Here are the top stories at this hour.
00:11A 6.1 magnitude earthquake killed at least 37 people and injured hundreds more in a sparsely
00:16populated area in southern Iran yesterday.
00:19The quake struck the town of Kaki, some 96 kilometers southeast of Bashir, a town on
00:23the Gulf that is home to Iran's first nuclear power plant.
00:27Iranian officials said the plant was not damaged.
00:30Tremors from the quake were also felt in cities across the UAE, forcing residents of high-rise
00:34buildings to rush out to nearby open places.
00:38There were no damages reported in the UAE.
00:41Labor cases handled by Dubai Police's Control Section for Workers has been cut by 40 percent
00:46in the past years, officials said.
00:48Colonel Mohamed Elmour, director of Dubai Police's Human Rights Department, said the
00:52introduction of a hotline, in addition to a number of government measures, have reduced
00:56the complaints of workers in the UAE.
00:59The number of Syrian refugees is expected to witness a major rise by the year-end, following

01:39Dubai-based Emirates Airline flew more international passengers in and out of India than the Indian
01:44national carrier in 2011-2012, as per official data.
01:49The statistics reveal that Emirates garnered 13.04 percent share of the Indian market,
01:54having flown 4.532 million passengers, while the Air India Group carried 4.138 million
02:01passengers in the same period.
02:03Emirates, the world's largest airline by international passengers flown, currently
02:06flies 180 flights a week to India via 10 gateways.
02:10In sport, German side Borussia Dortmund scored two goals in injury time to secure a dramatic

02:40Entertainment and Lindsay Lohan is going into rehab on May 2, but first she had to face
02:44David Letterman.
02:46In an appearance taped for last night's Late Show, Lohan was pressed by Letterman about
02:50her upcoming rehab stint.
02:52She faces a 90-day stay as part of a plea deal in a misdemeanor traffic accident case.
02:57Lohan looked uncomfortable during the show and said she didn't expect Letterman's line
03:01of questioning.
03:02But she said she looks at rehab as a blessing and not a curse.
