00:33Let's talk about coffee and how it helped your fellowmen in Tuburan Cebu.

00:39Alright, tell us, how did the coffee industry start in your place?

00:44Actually, for me, heaven fell here.

00:47Because I ran here and there because I wanted to help the poor.

00:51At that time, charcoal was one of the biggest livelihoods of people.

00:58The mountains were noisy, so I really thought that there should be an alternative.

01:04That's why it suddenly came to my mind that coffee can be used as an alternative.

01:08So that's where I started in 2012.

01:10Now, we're already 13 years old.

01:13Okay.

01:13So, God's mercy, it's already a big help to our poor fellowmen,

01:18especially in the mountains.

01:20How big is the coffee industry in your place?

01:23For us, we planted almost 3,000 hectares.

01:26I'm thankful to all the government agencies, especially in NIDA.

01:31Because we established a convergence,

01:33or all the national government agencies were united to help the poor.

01:38Okay, so the government agencies are helping each other.

01:40What are the agencies, Mayor?

01:42NIDA, National Economic Development Authority.

01:45I started in the National Greening Program in DNR.

01:48Instead of ordinary trees that we plant, we plant coffee.

02:23How did the lives of farmers in your area change?

02:28Little by little, their lives changed.

02:31They are earning and helping their families.

02:33And not only that, I also introduced a lot of livelihood programs to our town.

02:38Especially the programs of sustainable livelihood programs.

02:42So, not just that, not just coffee, but almost everything.

02:45Because we are really thinking about how we can help the poor, especially in poverty alleviation.

02:51Because we were also the pilot in NIDA when they called it ASAP,

02:56or Accelerated and Sustainable Anti-Poverty Program.

03:00For those who want to start a business like this,

03:03how much capital do they need?

03:06And how many months is the return of investment that we are talking about

03:09so that they can really earn here in coffee?

03:13For us, we have what we call plant-to-cup.

03:16Because in the whole Region 7,

03:18we are the only one accredited by the Bureau of Plant and Industry to propagate seedlings.

03:23So, we also do cutting.

03:25We have mother plants, so we produce 20,000 to 30,000 seedlings in a month.

03:30So, the farmers are taught

03:33from cutting up to planting,

03:37then harvesting, and at the same time,

03:39the process of coffee.

03:41So, our concept is really plant-to-cup.

03:45So, we are helping because we have technicians.

03:48If someone wants to plant,

03:50we are willing to help and teach our experience.

03:55Because this is two birds in one stone.

03:58Because you helped the poor,

04:00you earn the poor,

04:02and at the same time, you can help the environment.

04:04So, it's easy. In two years, your coffee will bear fruit.

04:08We will also buy from your production.

04:12We have what we call plant-now-pillator.

04:15So, for example, you plant,

04:17we can provide seedlings,

04:19and then, we will also buy from your production.

04:23We are the one who will process.

04:25What are your plans to expand this program?

04:30We are encouraging other local executives

04:35to plant coffee.

04:55There are a lot.

06:55Then we went to the Department of Education

07:09by the insurgents.

07:11But now, it has changed.
