00:00Because horror films are filled with rawpy special effects, awful acting, absurd premises,

00:04and atrocious dialogue, a lot of scary B-movies leave viewers laughing rather than screaming.

00:12As a result, it's not too surprising then that cinema is filled with spoofs

00:16revolving around slashers, monsters, aliens, and even sometimes sharks.

00:22Consequently, there are plenty of parodies that probably escape the attention of even

00:26the most devoted movie buffs. So with that in mind,

00:29I'm Josh from WhatCultureHorror and these are 10 Horror Movie Parodies You've Never Seen.

00:3410. Shriek If You Know What I Did Last Friday The 13th

00:38Because Shriek If You Know What I Did Last Friday The 13th came out three months after Scary Movie,

00:43it was seen as a cheap rip-off that was rushed out of production. Ironically though,

00:47Shriek actually went into production before Scary Movie did, but since it had the misfortune of

00:53being released second, it gave people the erroneous impression that it was riding the

00:57tails of Scary Movie's success. Now, even though Shriek has the same structure as Scary Movie,

01:03its style is far zanier and not really for the better. I mean, this time around,

01:09the mass killer is building a nuclear bomb. The school principal is played by Coolio and

01:15one of the characters has a twin cousin, which is like, that's kind of a joke because you know,

01:22twins can't be, you know. Now, Shriek isn't by any stretch of the imagination a great comedy,

01:28and some of the jokes, in fact most of the jokes, have aged like four-month-old milk,

01:34but there are a lot of people who do prefer it out there over Scary Movie.

01:389. Beastedare Beastedare, which spoofs the stop-motion

01:42special Here Comes Peter Cottontail, is one of those movies that makes you think,

01:46how did this project get made? The film itself centres around a giant man-eating

01:53rabbit who rampages through a town on Easter, hence the title. Because the mayor refuses to

01:59act as a nod to Jaws, it's up to an idiotic dog catcher and a failed actress to save the day.

02:05Although the budget was only $150,000, the special effects are so unpolished that it looks like the

02:10film cost ten times less. Almost every scene revolving around decapitation or dismemberment

02:17has distracting green screen effects, and also the beast buddy itself looks more like a rat

02:22than a rabbit. 8. Fido

02:25Fido takes place in an alternate reality where the government has regulated zombies,

02:30forcing them to perform menial jobs in society. Even though the zombies themselves are viewed as

02:35pets, young lad Timmy sees Fido as a friend and tries to bond with him, despite the obvious danger

02:42the reanimated creature poses. Despite the fact that Fido could have been just a silly comedy,

02:47it does successfully juggle complex themes about conformity, consumerism,

02:52and maintaining the stares quo. As an added bonus, it is also very funny. The

02:58Timmy's trap-down-a-well scene is ridiculous, and it is hilarious.

03:037. Killer Piñata Killer Piñata is, unsurprisingly,

03:06about a killer piñata. After the titular character, if you can call them a character,

03:12watches a family smash his kind to pieces for their own amusement, the piñata decides to kill

03:17them all to avoid suffering the same fate. The film was made for £3,000 and 8 days,

03:24and it absolutely shows. Even though it's intentionally dumb and everything plays out

03:28with tongue firmly in cheek, there isn't a single memorable line or creative kill.

03:33Most of the film revolves around extraneous characters just spouting generic dialogue,

03:38solely, presumably, to fill up the runtime. 6. Ice Spiders

03:43Ice Spiders revolves around a group of Winter Olympic contenders staying at a ski resort, but

03:48uh-oh, their plans are jeopardised when mutant spiders break out of a nearby experimental

03:53facility and go on a killing spree. Because of how preposterous this premise is, you might assume

03:59that all the characters in Ice Spiders would be equally over the top. However, the cast all

04:04deliver their lines so seriously, you wonder if they thought they were making a genuine horror

04:09flick rather than a spoof. And this makes every scene feel jarring, since these actors speak so

04:15matter-of-factly while being attacked by the fakest-looking spiders in movie history.

04:21I mean, the special effects for the spiders and eight-legged freaks weren't great, but they look

04:25photorealistic compared to the CGI here. These arachnids are so badly rendered that they look

04:31like they were taken from a PlayStation 1 game. 5. Camp Death 3 in 2D

04:37Camp Death 3, which is not a sequel by the way, is a satire of the Friday the 13th franchise,

04:42just like so many of these movies are, and it follows the same basic plot of people going to

04:48a camp and getting killed by a killer. Unlike some spoofs, Camp Death 3 is one of those films

04:55that doesn't even try to be clever, and like all unoriginal parodies, there's even a lightsaber

05:01battle thrown in there for good measure. This is one of those movies where the best joke in the

05:06whole thing is in the title. It seems almost designed to give you a chuckle while you're

05:10searching through Amazon Prime at 2am one Saturday night, and hey, maybe that's a business model

05:15that's worked for it. 4. The Revenant 2009

05:20Because spoofs tend to mock specific films, they usually come across as derivative by nature. I

05:25mean, this is why parodies like Epic Movie, Meet the Spartans and Date Movie are so uncreative with

05:31their comedy. But there are some spoofs that avoid these tropes and come up with a genuinely

05:35original idea. The Revenant, not the Leonardo DiCaprio movie, is a 2009 comedy that revolves

05:42around a veteran called Bart, who teams up with his buddy Joey to clean up the city. However,

05:47Bart has a slight problem. He's dead. After being reanimated as a corpse, he has to drink blood to

05:53stop himself from decomposing. Even though he's articulate and intelligent, Joey's friends are

05:59certain that Bart is a mindless brain-eating zombie, and so they urge Joey to kill him.

06:06Even though the whole thing could've fallen apart if it was too silly, the Revenant has a good

06:10balance of being aware of how ridiculous it is, while still taking itself somewhat seriously.

06:163. Comedy of Terrors Because Scary Movie is responsible for

06:20popularizing horror comedies, it's easy to forget the subgenre has existed for decades.

06:26And back in 1963, there was an underrated spoof called the Comedy of Terrors which revolved around

06:31a pair of funeral directors who are forced to kill customers to keep their failing business afloat.

06:38Even better, the film boasts an all-star cast, including Vincent Price, Peter Lorre,

06:42Basil Rathbone, and Boris Karloff. Although the Comedy of Terrors is beautifully staged and every

06:48scene is rich with tension, it's the actors' stellar performances that stand out. The ensemble

06:54may be renowned for their dramatic roles, but they all get the chance to showcase their comedy chops

06:59here. Still, the Comedy of Terrors has become somewhat of a cult classic over the years,

07:03but it isn't really as well-known as it should be.

07:062. Llamageddon

07:07Llamageddon is about a killer llama from space, and based on that premise alone,

07:13you should probably be able to tell whether this spoof will be your cup of bovril or not.

07:18Since the characters are stereotyped horny teenagers, they can be pretty grating a lot

07:23of time in this flick. But the more you hit these guys, the more satisfying it is

07:27when they're incinerated and reduced to a bloody puddle. Even though there's bound to be many

07:32viewers who enjoy the intentionally bad special effects and crass humour, it is a pity that

07:37nothing particularly creative is done with the llama in question. In every scene revolving around

07:43the animal, it doesn't really do anything except fire lasers from its eyes, which,

07:48admittedly, now I'm thinking about it, is something we all did want to see, right?

07:52Considering the trailer calls Llamageddon the greatest movie in the world and brags that it

07:57was rejected for Sundance and won the most fake awards of 2018, you should have a good idea of

08:04what you're getting yourself into. 1. The Final Girls

08:08Probably the most well-known on this list, but also certainly the best, The Final Girls centres

08:13on a young woman called Max processing the death of her mother Nancy, a legendary scream queen from

08:18the 1980s. So when she and her friends get sucked into Nancy's most famous slasher feature, Max's

08:25group find themselves being hunted by the in-movie killer. Even though the best slashers

08:31are rife with cliches, every one of them works in this movie's advantage. Max's gang keep pointing

08:37out tropes like how blood looks like corn syrup or how the characters are always murdered after

08:42having sex. And yeah, it's not exactly the first movie to implement this shtick, but luckily,

08:48The Final Girls never relies on these gags and instead focuses on the chemistry between the

08:53ensemble and hilarious one-liners. Because The Final Girls pokes fun at how cheesy the dialogue

08:59is and how every character acts like an idiot, you should probably enjoy it, even if you're not

09:04usually a fan of the genre. So that's our list. It was certainly a mixed bag. Some good, some
