00:00The Xpeng G6 Coupe, an electric SUV that can accelerate from 0 to 100 in 6.7 seconds and

00:10reaches 570 kilometres on a single charge.

00:15Packed with AI tech taking us closer to autonomous driving, it's now available in Ireland at

00:20this shiny new showroom in Dublin.

00:23We've actually called for more stock.

00:25We had orders put in last week because of the volume that we sold over the last week.

00:29So one week opens, the weekend we sold 12 Xpengs and now we have more cars on order

00:33and they're on their way from China as we speak.

00:35So it's really good times for Xpeng in Ireland.

00:38Xpeng might only be 10 years old but this Chinese disruptor is a small car maker with

00:43big ambitions, plans to roll out sales in over 60 countries.

00:48And this model, the Xpeng G6 Coupe, is a direct rival for the Tesla Model Y.

00:55The Model Y was the best-selling car on the planet in 2023, a first for an electric car

01:00and stayed a best-seller in 2024 too.

01:03Now Xpeng is trying to compete on better tech as standard features like the AI-powered autonomous

01:09driving capabilities and a price tag that's around $10,000 lighter.

01:14The company's investment in Ireland is also a clear sign that EU EV tariffs are not stopping

01:20the Chinese electric car rollout.

01:23Not really.

01:24The tariffs, people are just looking, is it good value, is the vehicle itself, has the

01:28range, has the size, can it fit the kids in it, can the dog fit in the boot.

01:32Now it's CPUs this and AI that and voice assistant and the Chinese cars just have it all and

01:38the European manufacturers are kind of playing catch up to all of that, what consumers are

01:42actually looking for.

01:43Tariffs are driving more innovation but also I think the Chinese manufacturers have optimised

01:47really lean manufacturing and they could probably, they are taking that tariff in, the ability

01:53to soak that in and still have a competitively priced vehicle that European customers and

01:56Irish customers are happy to pay for.

01:58Last month Ireland sold more electric cars than any month before and worldwide some 20

02:04million electric and plug-in hybrids are expected to shift this year.

02:09Chinese innovators and disruptors like Xpeng are still very much part of that conversation.
