'Don't risk your lives': Wave of solidarity helps migrants at the US border

More than 4,000 immigrants have been deported from the US this year as Trump intensifies his crackdown with mass deportations. In response, aid groups are helping undocumented migrants at border crossings.

00:06arriving at the White House.

00:08Both Republican and Democratic governments have been trying to address the 11 million

00:13people living illegally in the U.S. for years.

00:16So far this year, around 8,000 have been detained across the country.

00:21Many have already been deported.

00:23On the other side of the wall, people like Gladys urges them not to risk their lives.

00:28Their sadness, their despair, their frustration is on the rise.

00:34The situation on the border between Matamoros and Tamaulipas is full of tears and despair.

00:42They really don't have a plan B. They don't know what to do.

00:46Many people are in limbo because they don't have an immigration document,

00:50because they don't have money, because they don't have a job, because they don't know the city.

00:54She coordinates the distribution of supplies and humanitarian aid for migrants.

01:11The White House has made clear that undocumented migrants face arrest and deportation.

01:25They still come with the hope of being able to enter the United States.

01:31But Gladys' story is just one example of the many cases of solidarity that are taking place.
