00:00In the sudden death of Taiwanese superstar Barbie Chou,
00:04some have noticed her death of pulmonia due to a concussion.
00:09The expert advice to prevent that from happening is from Joseph Moro.
00:18Influenza-induced pneumonia is the so-called cause of the sudden death of Barbie Chou,
00:23better known as Sunshine of Meteor Garden.
00:26The 48-year-old Taiwanese actress-singer was at home while on a family vacation in Japan.
00:32According to Dr. Roberto Francisco of the Lung Center of the Philippines,
00:36pneumonia is an infection of tissue in the lung,
00:39possibly due to virus, bacteria, tuberculosis, or fungus.
00:42In the X-ray image of a normal healthy lung,
00:45many parts of it are black.
00:47This means that there is enough air,
00:49but if there is pneumonia, there is a white mark on the lung that could be cancer.
00:54Cough, phlegm, it could trigger tightening of the airways,
01:01so they could feel shortness of breath,
01:05similar to asthma or COPD, even if they don't have that.
01:10If it's bad, it's white, it consolidates,
01:15or it could be not only one side, it could be both sides.
01:18The disease and not the concussion depends on the outbreak of the microbial,
01:21the resistance of the person,
01:23or if he has a different feeling of comorbidity,
01:26his age, or the situation around him.
01:29Even if there is a flu outbreak in Japan,
01:31it could be the one that affects Shu.
01:34He had a viral infection,
01:37which is usually the more common kind of infection.
01:41Dr. Francisco can't say if it's related to the time when Shu was diagnosed with epilepsy
01:48and mitral valve prolapse that has something to do with the valve in the heart.
01:52According to the Lung Center of the Philippines,
01:54pneumonia was the reason behind the rapid deaths of their patients last year.
02:00That's why the advice of the experts is to be extra careful,
02:04especially those who are old and have comorbidity.
02:07Because the body is important against pneumonia,
02:10the doctors' tip-toe is not to abuse the body,
02:13eat nutritious food,
02:15take enough rest,
02:17and be updated on the vaccine especially if the resistance is weak.
02:20The strain of the virus mutates.
02:24That's why the strain of the virus changes every year.
02:28That's the reason why we give the vaccines yearly.
02:31Aside from the flu vaccine,
02:33there will also be vaccines against the primary cause of bacterial pneumonia.
