00:00How much talent do you need to be a star?

00:20Wow.

00:21Or better yet Jet, how much talent do you need to make it in the business?

00:29Because being a star seems like a lot of pressure.

00:32How much talent do you need?

00:34I think you should have a little bit of talent at the start.

00:36Because based on my experience, my many years in the industry,

00:41talent is something that you already have.

00:45But the hard work and perseverance to develop the talent is another thing.

00:50That's where the professional differs from those who are left behind, in my opinion.

00:57Because you can have all the talent in the world but if you don't hone it,

01:02you do not nurture it, you do not find ways to improve yourself

01:08or just to jump into the unknown, to be fearless,

01:12I think that's where the difference is.

01:15And you can grow that talent.

01:18Okay.

01:19Yeah, that's right.

01:20You can improve your talent.

01:21But for me, it's 50-50.

01:22You have to have the authenticity with the talents that you have, I guess.

01:29And then longevity, that is the requirement that you need to have passion in what you do.

01:35Because you can have the talent but you're not passionate about it.

01:38So for me, it goes hand in hand.

01:40But you have to have that real talent that you can still grow and you can still improve on.

01:47Some people call it commitment.

01:49But the talent, is this genetics?

01:53Does it grow?

01:54Or is this learned?

01:58Well, if I base it on me, I think it grows.

02:03Because my parents, you know.

02:06My mom, actually one of my mom's trivia, she joined the group called Tanghalan.

02:14And she didn't win, but she was a good singer.

02:19And my father also likes to play the guitar.

02:22And I'm also related to Martin Rivera.

02:27So I guess you can say it's in the blood somehow.

02:31In your experience, in your life.

02:37I grew up with my dad, who's a musical director.

02:43So my exposure, my dad brought me to the shows.

02:50And then, when I was young, I was inspired by my dad.

02:54To improve my singing.

02:57Because he's also my teacher.

02:59He inspired me to perform.

03:01So my exposure was really with the stars of his generation.

03:08Because your dad is very present in the music industry.

03:12So we have two cases here where, yes, it's true.

03:16But there are cases that, you know, I read this book many years ago.

03:20It's called The Pygmalion Principle.

03:22What it means, what the book says is, anything can be manufactured.

03:40you can make anything a star.
