Cafe that's gone from country tearoom to foodie destination

Summer Schaffner from Oad Street Food and Crafts shows KentOnline around the cafe, which has become popular with Instagrammers and celebs alike.

00:00Hello, we are here at Ode Street in Borden in Sittingbourne, Kent and we are showing

00:06Kent Online, well, giving you a little tour. Here we are at our entrance, which is pretty

00:12new. We've developed this in order to have our containers to support independent businesses,

00:20so they move in for a set amount of time in order to promote their business, reach new

00:25market and sell their products and gifts, which is really lovely. So, as you walk in,

00:30you can choose to look at the markets or head straight in if you're really hungry.

00:35Here you will find our exclusive courtyard with our igloos. These are seasonal igloos,

00:43so they're either summer pods or winter pods. We're in our winter season at the moment,

00:49so our customers enjoy celebratory brunch or our afternoon tea boards in here. So, mainly

00:56people put them for celebrations for birthdays. Come on in. Here we are. We've adapted this

01:05over the years. It used to be a flower wall, which people may remember, where people had

01:10photos in front of, but now we've adapted it and obviously we're a brunch restaurant,

01:15so it's brunch. Come on through. We have our team that will seat all of our customers,

01:21just so that we can control everyone coming in, so it's not chaotic. We've got customers

01:30smiling for you, but come through. This is the team. Say hello, everybody. We like to

01:43create different areas where people can have photos, so that when they're sat at their table

01:48and they're having their afternoon tea or their celebratory brunch, or even just a breakfast

01:52catch-up with friends, they've got a lovely backdrop. We've got the panelled area. We've

01:56got this changes every season with different slogans on. In the summer, obviously, we open

02:03up those doors all the way out, which creates a really nice inside-outside dining experience.
