From the saucepan to the frying pan, the biannual Bocuse d'Or is the pinnacle of perfection for the world's top chefs. Euronews Culture sized up the competition in the kitchens at the 'Olympics of haute cuisine'.

00:30It's incredible to represent France in such a high level of competition.

00:59I've always been a competitor in everything, and it's a great pride to be able to compete in such a high level of competition.

01:09It forces you to push much further than you would do any other day of the year in our restaurant.

01:14It's something totally different, something out of the ordinary.

01:17It's an incredible parenthesis that I've always dreamt of living, which has taken shape today and which has ended today.

01:26But we mustn't forget that our daily life is a bit different.

01:44What's important here is that a man was born before us. His name was Paul Bocuse, he was my friend.

01:51And he never understood that the world cuisine was different cuisines.

01:56And he united the difference, the right to express himself in the difference.

02:00And that's great, he's an extraordinary man.

02:21So, I think it's more important than ever that we show our craftsmanship and show the new generation what an amazing industry this is.

02:29In our business, it's famous for people who are yelling.

02:32Here, nobody's yelling. It's like there was no music or any noise here, you wouldn't hear the kitchens.

02:38So, showcasing a lot of brightness for this industry.
