00:00Onik, I am a survivor of the ghetto, Auschwitz concentration camp, in Slevenik, Germany.

00:29Holocaust Memorial Day marks the 8th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau, the

00:42largest Nazi concentration camp complex, and 30 years anniversary of the genocide in Bosnia.

00:54The Holocaust was an attempt by the Nazis and their collaborators to destroy all Jewish

01:04people in Europe.

01:06It took place across 22 different countries, with the active participation of some of the

01:15citizens of those countries.

01:18An exhibition, a Holocaust Memorial Day, brings your community, your group, and your friends

01:27together.

01:29This enables people of all backgrounds to remember those who were murdered because of

01:36who they were, to learn from genocides, and to commit to take further action for a better

01:45future.

01:46I hope by sharing my experiences, people can better understand and instead to find ways to

01:58reach and open their minds and their hearts.

02:04I believe education, especially for children and young people, is the key to denouncing

02:13hatred and prejudice whenever we encounter it and break down barriers that may exist between

02:27us.

02:2980 years after the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau, you must become the generation who

02:39carry forward the legacy of the witnesses.

02:43Remember those who were murdered and challenge those who distort and deny the past, or who

02:53discriminate and persecute today.

02:56We can all mark Holocaust Memorial Day 2025 and commit to making a better future for all.
