00:31Mamata, who returned to India after 25 years specially for the Mahakumbh, is shown posing
00:38with her fellow sanyasis.
00:40According to the media reports, the Karan Arjun fame actress officially embraced sanyas
00:45on Friday after arriving at the Kinnar Akhada during the Mahakumbh.
00:50There, she met Acharya Mahamandaleshwar Dr. Lakshmi Narayan Tripathi, who blessed her.
00:58Mamata is said to have performed the Pind Daan ritual at a Sangam and her coronation
01:04ceremony took place at the Kinnar Akhada.
01:08As part of the ceremony, she was also shown a new spiritual name, Shri Yamai Mamata Nandgiri.
01:14She has also been officially appointed as the Mahamandaleshwar of the Kinnar Akhada

01:22In a recent interview with IANS, Mamata shared the reason for her long absence from both
01:28India and the entertainment industry.

01:31The reason for me leaving India was spirituality.
01:34In 1996, I became inclined towards spirituality and during that time I met Guru Gagangiri
01:41Maharaj.
01:42After his arrival, my interest in spirituality grew and my penance began.
01:48However, I believe Bollywood gave me both name and fame.
01:52After that I quit Bollywood.
01:53From 2002 to 2012, I continued my penance.
01:57I spent many years in Dubai where I lived in a two-bedroom flat and remained celibate
02:04for 12 years.
