00:00Migrants stranded in Central Mexico after the cancellation of the U.S. CBP-1 program
00:08were in Coatzacoalcos, next to the train tracks, trying to decide whether they should extend
00:14their stay in the country and settle or wait for another legal way to reach the United
00:18States on Thursday.
00:20The Trump administration on Monday ended a program, known as CBP-1, that allowed some
00:26migrants waiting in Mexico to enter the U.S. legally by obtaining an appointment on a government
00:31app.
00:33On Tuesday it said it was reinstating Migrant Protection Protocols, an initiative that forced
00:38non-Mexican asylum seekers to wait in Mexico for the resolution of their U.S. cases.
00:44The stranded migrants entered through the south of the country and are looking to board
00:48a train to continue their journey to the capital, some hope to be able to get a job there.
00:53Trump, who campaigned on a promise of mass deportations, designated illegal immigration
00:59a national emergency and tasked the U.S. military with aiding broader security on his first
01:05day in office.
