00:44Senate Deputy Minority Leader Issa Ontiveros files a substitute bill amending the contentious

00:49provisions of Senate Bill 1979 or the Prevention of Adolescent Pregnancy Act on Wednesday,

00:54January 22.

00:55This after at least seven senators withdrew their support for the bill, which includes

00:59a provision for mandatory Comprehensive Sexuality Education, or CSE, in schools.

01:04The substitute bill revamps a section on age and development appropriate CSE, notably removing

01:09that CSE will be guided by international standards.

01:13This amid backlash from religious groups.

01:16Senators Nancy Binay, JV Ejercito, Cynthia Villar, Bong Go, Senate President Pro Tempore

01:21Estrada, and Loren Legarda request to have their signatures removed from the bill, which

01:25had been previously signed by 19 senators.

01:28The bill sparked controversy nearly two years after it was filed, following a video released

01:33by the National Coalition for the Family and the Constitution.

01:37The coalition claims the bill's provision for Comprehensive Sexuality Education will

01:41align with European standards.

01:44President Ferdinand Marx Jr. voiced concerns, saying he would veto the bill if passed.

01:48But Teresa Ontiveros, the bill's principal author, rejects the misinformation, emphasizing

01:53the word masturbation does not appear in the bill.

01:56CSE contains the very same things you support, teaching kids anatomy, the consequences of

02:03early pregnancy.

02:15The world's wealthiest individuals attend U.S. President Donald Trump's inauguration

02:19on Monday, January 20 in Washington.

02:21Among those were the world's three wealthiest individuals, Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos, and Mark

02:26Zuckerberg, whose combined net worth is nearly $900 billion.

02:30Other Forbes-listed billionaires also attended, including LVMH CEO Bernard Arnault, Alphabet

02:36CEO Sundar Pichai, and India's richest man, Mukesh Ambani, all participating in the inauguration.

02:42Meantime, on Tuesday, January 21, Trump pardoned Silk Road founder Ross Albright.

02:47Albright was sentenced to life in prison for operating an underground online marketplace

02:51where drug dealers and others facilitated over $200 million in illegal transactions

02:56using Bitcoin.

02:58Trump fulfilling a campaign promise calls the pardon, quote,

03:01"...full and unconditional," and criticizes those involved in Albright's conviction.

03:05In February 2015, a federal jury in Manhattan convicted Albright on charges that included

03:10online drug distribution, conspiracy to commit computer hacking, and money laundering.

03:15Albright's arrest marked the end of what prosecutors called a global black market platform used

03:20by over 100,000 people in two years from 2011 to conduct $214 million in illicit trade,

03:26including illegal drugs and services.

03:29Prosecutors say some people died because of drugs bought on Silk Road.

03:33The website allowed users to communicate anonymously and accepted Bitcoin payments, which prosecutors

03:38argued helped conceal users' identities and locations.

03:43On his first full day in office, President Donald Trump attends a prayer service at the

03:47Washington National Cathedral, where Episcopal Bishop Marianne Edgar Budde delivered a sermon

03:52urging him to protect immigrants and respect gay rights.

03:56This a day after Trump says in his inauguration speech that there were only two genders in

04:00America and signed executive orders to tighten immigration.

04:04Budde appeals to Trump's mercy for those who were scared of what is to come.

04:07I ask you to have mercy, Mr. President, on those in our communities whose children fear

04:12that their parents will be taken away, and that you help those who are fleeing war zones

04:17and persecution in their own lands to find compassion and welcome here.

04:23Our God teaches us that we are to be merciful to the stranger.

04:29Trump appeared displeased during the sermon and later dismissed it as, quote, not too exciting.

04:35U.S. President Donald Trump on Monday, January 20, unveils a plan to increase oil and gas

04:41production.

04:42This includes declaring a national energy emergency to expedite permitting and rolling

04:47back environmental protections.

04:49The move represents a significant shift in energy policy, reversing former President

04:53Joe Biden's efforts to transition away from fossil fuels.

04:57Trump then signs an executive order pulling the United States out of the 2015 Paris Climate

05:02Accord.

05:03This excludes the world's largest emitter from global climate change efforts for the

05:07second time in a decade.

05:08He also signs an order to encourage oil and gas development in Alaska, overturning Biden's

05:13efforts to protect Arctic lands and U.S. coastal waters from drilling.

05:17Meantime, environmental groups say they will challenge the executive orders in court.

05:24TBA Studios announces the biopic about former President Manuel El Quezon, titled Quezon,

05:29will begin filming in March.

05:31TBA Studios President Daphne Chu says although it is a standalone film, it maintains a cinematic

05:36continuity in the previous Bayani-verse films Heneral Luna in 2015 and Goyo, Ang Batang

05:41Heneral in 2018.

05:43Like the previous films, Gerald Tarog will direct.

05:46The film is expected to focus on Quezon's presidential campaign against Emilio Aguinaldo.

05:50TJ Trinidad played the adult Quezon in Goyo, Ang Batang Heneral, but it is unclear if he

05:55will reprise the role.

05:57TBA Studios says the casting for both lead and supporting roles is currently underway.

06:02The National Commission for Culture and the Arts and the Film Development Council of the

06:05Philippines support the film, which will also be released internationally.
