00:00Saif, from your early days, you had long hair in your first film, now you have short hair.
00:10From Suraj Bajjatiya to Kundan Shah's film, how do you see your journey?
00:17I think I have always worked with known directors and not so known directors.
00:28My first couple of films were with Umesh Mehra and Yash Chopra.
00:35After that, I don't know, I am prepared to work with anybody, obviously the better the better.
00:43So sometimes you are lucky and you get good films and sometimes you are not.
00:50This is a conscious decision to work with people like Kundan Shah?
00:54It's not an unconscious decision. Most of my decisions are conscious.
01:01I was offered the films and I obviously accepted them.
01:08You don't say no to such great makers, obviously. One is here to work.
01:16Kundan Shah is known for serious cinema. What do you have to say about this?
01:21I don't think Kundan ji is known for serious cinema. He is known for comedy.
01:26Comedy?
01:27In serious cinema. So yeah, certainly, of course, I would like to.
01:33I mean it gets a bit boring doing the same thing. But let's see.
01:39Yeah, definitely I would like to do something more serious.
01:42Before this, you have done many successful films with two heroes. What would you say about this?
01:48Especially how was your experience working with Akshay Kumar?
01:53You see, I don't really think about anything much apart from what the story is and what the script is like and who the director is.
02:02So it doesn't really make a difference if it's a two hero film or a solo hero film.
02:08Obviously it's important to people in the trade and in terms of market and things like this.
02:15But for me, it's been mainly what kind of role. And in the past, there's been some good roles with films with Akshay.
02:22And that's been great fun. And I mean, I actually don't understand the question. What do you mean?
02:31You have done many successful films with two heroes.
02:35Yeah.
02:36Would you like to do similar films in the future or would you like to make some changes in your plan?
02:42I'm not actually that concerned about changing it also. I mean, I would just like to do the best work that I can do whenever.
02:48I'm an actor and anybody wants to hire my services, if the role is interesting, I'll be very excited to work with them.
02:58Before this, we spoke to Kundan Shahji. He told us that this is an issue-based film in which Preeti is the lead role.
03:06What kind of role do you play in this film?
03:10Well, I'm playing a boy in college who has got many problems, it seems.
03:20And he likes to have lots of girls in his life but not very seriously.
03:30And our heroine also comes across this boy and is very attracted to him.
03:37But he's not necessarily a very good boy for her and her family.
03:42But he's very interesting for her.
03:47And I suppose part of the story is based on how her relationship with him develops, whether it works out or not.
03:57Because he's a dangerous person to have a relationship with emotionally.
04:03So I'm playing that sort of dangerous element in terms of...
04:09He's slightly mentally disturbed.
04:12Not like a special person or like an underprivileged person.
04:22But he's slightly evil. He has many problems.
04:27And he seems he wants to hurt women.
04:32So that's interesting for me because normally you're playing a Casanova type character who is a nice person.
04:40So this is a Casanova role who is not a very nice person.
04:45But he doesn't care.
04:48And he's very honest, which is what makes him heroic in my eyes.
04:55That he does what he wants to do.
04:57And most of us are a bit scared to do what we want to do.
05:06Well, it's not such a complicated role that requires that much preparation.
05:11I suppose not much preparation at all because it's something I've never done before.
05:17But it's inside everybody, I think, to behave like this.
05:24He has problems with his mother, this character.
05:27And because of that he has problems with other women.
05:30So it's a very simple thing to understand.
05:32And everybody has a slightly dark side to their nature.
05:36Not everybody is always smiling and always...
05:39So in that sense it was easy to understand.
05:43And obviously with Kundanji's direction it was much easier.
05:47But again, like I say, an interesting role for me.
05:57Well, yeah, it depends.
05:59Obviously a bit of preparation in the sense that I try to understand what the character is like.
06:04You know, the last time I prepared something was in Kacche Dhaage really.
06:10Where I was supposed to be an ad executive.
06:14So I know a few of those people.
06:17So I tried to imagine how they would react in these situations.
06:21And the kind of upcoming upwardly mobile Indian young businessman.
06:28So generally I think of people that I know who I like this character.
06:34Sometimes it's me only.
06:36Sometimes it's somebody else.
06:41The story of the film was based on mountains.
06:44So more hill station type music has been used in the film.
06:49How much did you like the music of the film?
06:52I liked the first song the most.
06:54In Kadmo Ke Niche.
06:57Pahadi music is okay.
07:00But I mean, this film has got...
07:03I wouldn't say it's Pahadi music.
07:05I'd just say it's simple.
07:07And melodious kind of music.
07:10It's not a rock kind of based.
07:13Like Jaanam Samjha Karo or something.
07:16Neither is it Kacche Dhaage which is more Rajasthani and folk based.
07:20So it's a little hill station-y.
07:22But what is hill station music?
07:25There's no such thing as hill station music.
07:27It's very pleasant listening.
07:31And uplifting kind of music.
07:34And tips are so good that they know exactly what kind of film to give what kind of music.
07:42Like Kacche Dhaage had different music.
07:45Another film, some of Salman's films which he's done with Rameshji have got different music.
07:53And this picture has got music that's suited to the characters.
07:57Because the characters are basically quite simple.
08:00Apart from my character.
08:03So the music is also quite simple and about the simple values of life.
08:09Family songs, there are some family songs about a nice quiet well-to-do family.
08:15And even the college song is not like a...
08:18There are dancing songs in the film, of course.
08:21And each character's songs are based on their personality.
08:25So some of the songs that I've done are a little more aggressive.
08:30And some of Preeti's songs are very soft and things like that.
08:36And Chandrachul's songs are very romantic.
08:40Hi, I'm Saif. You're watching Lehre.
08:42And it's been with us forever, as long as I can remember.
08:46And a great channel.
08:48And keep it up, guys.
