00:00The Philippines and Japan further solidified cooperation between the two nations regarding

00:05maritime security and freedom of navigation, which adheres to the policies in the Indo-Pacific

00:11region.

00:12Japan Foreign Minister Iwaya Takeshi recently paid a courtesy call and President Ferdinand

00:16R. Marcus Jr., which further strengthened relations between the Philippines and Japan.

00:22The Land of the Rising Sun expressed support to the country's bid to improve capacity to

00:27ensure security and safety within the territorial waters.

00:31This amidst the concerning and repeated aggressive actions being taken by China in the West Philippine

00:36Sea, which are causing tensions in the region.

00:39President Ferdinand R. Marcus Jr., I am greatly concerned that actions heightening tension

00:45in the South China Sea are repeated.

00:49Issue over South China Sea is a legitimate concern.

00:54We will continue to provide assistance to the Philippines in regards to the official

01:04security assistance for maritime security as well as official development assistance

01:10for the maritime safety capabilities improvement.
