00:00In combat sports, Karate Pilipinas President Richard Lim

00:04shared that one of their preparations this year is to host the country for the first time

00:09in the upcoming 2026 Karate World Youth Games.

00:18The Karate Pilipinas Sports Federation is now strengthening their grassroots program

00:23to continue looking for new athletes who can bring glory to the country one day.

00:30This is one of the reasons why the country is hosting the first-ever

00:34Karate Youth World Championships in the upcoming 2026

00:37where hundreds of Karateka from all over the world are expected to compete.

00:42In terms of PTV Sports, President of Karate Pilipinas Richard Lim

00:47shared the importance of having such tournaments in the country.

00:52Because it's about time that the kids have a chance to excel.

00:59To experience.

01:01Because this is going to be our future senior athletes.

01:06This will be the future athletes that will be competing in the City Games,

01:10in the Asian Games, in the Olympics.

01:13So we have to develop with them.

01:15One of the qualifying tournaments to enter the 2026 World Youth Games

01:20is the upcoming Karate National Championships in February

01:24at Tagaytay City Combat Sports Complex.

01:27It's a matter of awareness that there is an opportunity for them

01:33to be part of the national team and to be representing the country

01:40at an early stage.

01:42I mean, imagine you're 14 years old and you're on the national team.

01:46That's something to be proud of.

01:49So we're trying to do our best to propagate the sport at an early stage.

01:56Meanwhile, aside from the upcoming Karate National Championships

01:59in the coming months,

02:01the senior karateka will continue their preparations

02:04for other major tournaments that they will be participating in this year,

02:08such as the Southeast Asian Games in the upcoming December in Thailand.
